🏏 Surrey Downs Division One – Match Overview- Saturday 22nd August 2026 🏏

Cranleigh CC vs Ockley CC 🏏 💚

Cranleigh won the toss and elected to field, but Ockley CC put together a competitive 204/9 from 40 overs. A solid opening partnership from Rhys and Warren Vaughan laid the foundations for the innings, before Charlie Korner batted superbly for his 37 to help Ockley post a strong total.

Cranleigh came out to chase, but Ockley’s bowlers delivered, bowling them out for 134 in 33 overs to secure a well-deserved victory! 👏 Ben Porter was the pick of the bowlers, taking 3/22 from his 8 overs. It was also great to see Chris MacGuire make a welcome return to Ockley, taking an impressive 2/9 from just 4 overs.

A brilliant all-round team performance and a much-needed 30-point haulto give the season a boost.

Oakwood Hill CC won the toss and elected to bat first, setting a competitive total of: 222/5 (40 overs)

Ockley CC began the chase but fell just short, being bowled out for: 202 all out (39.2 overs)

🏏 Surrey Downs Division One League – Saturday Match Report 🏏

Today, Ockley CC 1st XI travelled to face Holmbury St Mary CC 1st XI in the Surrey Downs Division One League.

We always enjoy our visits to Holmbury St Mary — not only because they have one of the most unique and beautiful grounds around, but also because they’re a fantastic bunch of people who make every visit so enjoyable.

Holmbury St Mary won the toss and elected to bat, finishing on 148/8 from their 40 overs.

Ockley came out determined in reply, with young opener Rhys Vaughan putting in a superb performance at the crease. Opening the batting, Rhys remained unbeaten and calmly guided Ockley home with an excellent 74 runs*. 👏🏏 Ockley finished on 153/3 in 27.3 overs.

A brilliant team effort, perfect cricketing weather, and a well-deserved victory for Ockley CC! 💚

A message from John Woods:

"I'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported Barbados Day on Sunday. It was a fantastic day for our village and for Ockley Cricket Club, and it simply wouldn't have been possible without all of our volunteers, sponsors, players, stallholders, entertainers and everyone who came along to support the event.

We're delighted to confirm that Barbados Day will return on Sunday 1st August next year—so put the date in your diary now! The Barbados team have already confirmed they'll be back, and all the stalls and DJs are already booked.

We independently counted close to 1,000 people attending throughout the day, with around 600–700 people on site at one time. What an incredible turnout!

Next year we're aiming to make it even bigger and better. Barbados Day is all about bringing our community together, and everyone is welcome. We look forward to seeing you all again!"

🏏🇧🇧 BARBADOS DAY 🇧🇧🏏🎉

What a fantastic day at Ockley Cricket Club! 🏏☀️

The day began with a poignant minute's silence in memory of the great Sir Garfield Sobers, a true legend of the game.

A huge thank you to Tony and Chris West from Top Score for generously sponsoring the Surrey XI team shirts, and for the fantastic graphics displayed on their one-of-a-kind scoreboard.

We were then treated to a superb game of cricket, with the Barbados side producing a sensational batting display to post 273/4 from their 25 overs.

Alex Browne led the way with a breathtaking 80 from just 33 balls, including nine sixes, while Romando Browne (60) and Jai Kedia (52) provided excellent support.

The Surrey XI faced a daunting chase and, despite a determined effort, couldn't keep pace with the required run rate, finishing on 159/6 from their 25 overs. Warren Vaughan (52) and Hugo Saunders (29) were the standout performers with the bat.

A special thank you to our umpires, Loll Figg and James Bulbeck, and to Nat Grey for scoring throughout the match.

A particularly special mention goes to John Woods, whose dedication, hard work and passion for Ockley Cricket Club make this fantastic annual event possible year after year.

Finally, thank you to everyone who came along, supported the day, and helped make another Barbados Day such a memorable occasion. We look forward to seeing you all again next year! 🇧🇧🏏
