Yesterday saw Oban Lorne RFC host an Argyll select with players from Mid Argyll RFC / Isle of Mull RFC & Campbeltown Junior Rugby Club to play their first ever 15-a-side game!

A fantastic effort from all involved with some great running rugby and Fantastic tries scored by both sides. Boys will take a lot of learning from this game as first time playing from Scrums and Lineouts

Looking forward to many more of these days as numbers continue to grow across the area

Fantastic for rugby across Argyll to see Mid Argyll RFC and ISLAY RUGBY CLUB taking the field to play a friendly yesterday! Great to see Rugby flourish in Rural communities thanks to all the volunteers that make this happen. Cowal Rugby Club / Bute Rugby/ Isle of Mull RFC/ Skye Rugby want a summer friendly match let’s keep it going!!

Yesterday ISLAY RUGBY CLUB hosted Mid Argyll RFC

Mid Argyll brought a large and very well drilled squad, played a tough game and went on to win 52-7,

All at Islay rugby club would like to thank Mid Argyll for making the journey over and hopefully we can have another game soon

Also a huge thank you to the committee members who organised the game , provided the food and drinks afterwards always showing islay hospitality at its best

well done to the islay players who made their first appearance for the club some being there first taste of full contact rugby , was a tough game against a tough team!

And once again thank you to Neil (Philco) for refereeing

Not the result we would have hoped for but we will
Continue to strengthen the squad and be stepping training up a bit more and look forward to our next game

A fantastic night in Glasgow at the Scottish Rugby in Glasgow North Community Awards 2023. Great effort from ISLAY RUGBY CLUB to attend and rekindle connections with Jonny Broad shortlisted for Volunteer of the year in Club Rugby. We had an interesting Q&A with former Scotland Womens International Lindsey Smith talking about her Journey from beginning in the Highlands to becoming Female Performance Coach. Argyll did come away with an Award with Murray Hamilton from Oban High School picking up volunteer of the year in Schools Rugby!!
