Trip up to the North-East to review the hockey pitch at Newcastle High School for Girls. Following a series of intrusive investigation works last year to assess the pitch base and specialist soakaway drainage system, the pitch has now benefitted with the installation of a brand new International Hockey Federation (FIH) compliant sand dressed synthetic turf. Pleased to deliver another sports facility project on behalf of The Girls' Day School Trust

Following our site survey work & tender process, initial works are now underway as part of the 3G pitch redevelopment at Cumberland Arena in Crewe. Base reconstruction, new improved fencing & turf system upgrade coming soon.

The tennis/netball courts at Sydenham High School have benefitted from a full refurbishment. Porous macadam overlay with a striking blue coloured slip resistant colour coating, new perimeter fence & equipment. We are proud to have led the design & delivery of a bespoke athletics circuit with lighting, sprint straight & grass infield at Chichester College. The track is running spike friendly & includes banked bends. Making effective use of the available site footprint, the design has created a unique facility which we are sure will improve athletics provision in the local area.

Positive project update meeting held in . Excavation into a steep bank has created the required footprint for the new FIH compliant hockey/multi-use synthetic pitch, helping to reduce the impact on the school playing fields. Stabilisation of the pitch formation complete, the aggregate base is taking shape. Various works coming up over the next few weeks.

As one of several North Wales synthetic pitch projects we are appointed as consultant for, the 3G pitch at Ysgol y Creuddyn in is really taking shape. Two years since our initial feasibility report & 18 months since putting together the pitch design specification, we cannot wait to see the end product of the hard work put in by a dedicated project team.
Key milestones this week, 3G turf rolls now rolled out/jointed & the new hub building hoisted into position.

Surfacing Standards Limited provided consultancy services to ensure the successful refurbishment of the 3G pitch at Paignton Academy in Devon.

SSL were originally engaged to survey the old pitch and provide a feasibility report advising on options for refurbishment. With the surface at the end of its lifespan, SSL produced a scope of works and contract specification before administering a tender process on behalf of the Trust. SSL’s role as project consultant continued during the construction phase with the SSL team providing project management and quality control checks.

The outcome is a carefully managed facility refurbishment with the majority of the shockpad underlay being retained and remediated prior to installation of the new 3G turf surface system. New fence projecting goals were installed to help maximise usage of the footprint of the pitch without requiring additional goal storage areas to be constructed.

We are sure the refurbished 3G pitch, installed by the appointed contractor Adsum, will prove to be a vital resource for Paignton Academy’s 1,500 students, not to mention providing for community usage at evenings/weekends.
