Looking back to a year ago today in Woolacombe 🌊 - just over a month away from having our amazing daughter - how time flies!!🤰🏽👶🏽💓
Keeping fit during pregnancy was difficult with all the changes and challenges, but it was also hard mentally having to scale back from my previous routine as I was used to hitting the gym hard before pregnancy!
Finding the right balance was important, and what worked me for was:
🚶🏽♀️ Walking everyday, I aimed for at least 1 hour…although some days all I managed was waddling to the fridge for another snack!
🏋🏽♀️ Resistance training 1-3 times a week (over the months reduced the weights and upped the reps - focus on maintaining strength and core stability)
🏊🏼♀️ Cardio 1-2 times a week (Spin at the start then switched to mainly swimming in 3rd trimester)
🍪 Eating well most of the time but also chomping down an entire pack of biscuits when needed!
😴 Often skipped the gym and had a nap instead!
All about keeping your body moving and energised, maintaining strength where you can (plus your sanity) and not trying to chase any PBs or pushing too hard.
Any movement you do, and getting rest when you need it, will help in the long run - both in pregnancy and once you have your little one to look after! ❤️✨
