And we're off! The 2026-27 season at Nuneaton Rugby Club - Minis and Juniors began in style today, as players were issued these stunning new playing shirts! A great innovation this year is that the shirts are fully reversible, meaning we now have home and away kits. Even better, thanks to the generosity of our sponsors players get their shirts for free this year!
Our U11 age group goes from strength to strength, gaining two new players over the summer and two more on Day One of the season. The new lads have already integrated well into the established player group, and we wish them and their parents an enjoyable and rewarding time as part of the Nuneaton Rugby Club - Minis and Juniors family.
New players are *always* welcome at Nuneaton - just come along on a Sunday morning and say hello!

The 2026/27 Rugby season starts this Sunday, 6th September - and we're here for it! If your child, boy or girl, would like to give Rugby a try, give us a call or just turn up at Nuneaton Rugby Club on Sunday morning. All age groups welcome new players - U11s is for children entering Y6 this September.

Off-season training continues, with the hard ground limiting what can be done at clubs all over the country - so today we improvised, ending the session with games of touch rugby and kick tennis against the U14s. Proud to say the U11s more than held their own against the big kids!

While visiting the WW1 battlefields in Belgium with their families, Josiah & Stan laid a wreath on behalf of Nuneaton Rugby Minis & Juniors, as part of the daily ceremony of commemoration at the Menin Gate Memorial to the Missing in Ypres.
The ceremony remembers particularly the tens of thousands of men who died in the villages and fields around Ypres but who have no known grave. Over 54,000 are remembered on the Menin Gate, which only covers August 1914 to August 1917; another memorial wall was built at Tyne Cot cemetery to record another 35,000 names.
As rugby families, we are also taking the time to remember some of the rugby players who fell, like Northampton Saints & England legend Lieutenant Colonel Edgar Mobbs, who died leading his men on the first day of the Battle of Passchendaele and whose body was never recovered.
The Mobbs Memorial match is still played by (alternately) Northampton or Bedford versus an Army team, so his rugby memory lives on.

At Nuneaton RFC U11s, family fun & social activities continue through the summer off-season too - like this family camping weekend that has now become an annual tradition, building bonds & friendships between the players and parents alike, and making memories which will last for years.

The season may be over, but the rugby & fun continues for the U11s at Nuns - fitness training (non-contact) continues over the summer on Wednesdays & Sundays, and one of our hotter sessions ended with a mass water fight involving coaches and players!
Turns out it was the perfect way to integrate our two new players into the team, and they are already loving being part of Nuns U11s!

Awards Evening for last season completed, time to look forward to the next season!
Training restarts on Wednesday 8th July at 6.30pm. New players (starting Y6 in September) are very welcome, just turn up dressed for sport and meet the team and coaches!

And that’s it for 25-26!
The season closed with an exciting opportunity for the boys to play on the main stadium as we welcomed Preston Grasshoppers to Liberty Way. With a huge contingent of players, family and coaches, The Hoppers brought an infectious, end-of-season party mood with them which was enjoyed by all and really celebrated the rugby family idea which is so central to our sport.
On the pitch, the rugby was competitive and hard-fought - this was no casual last day run-out - and both teams gave it their all. The sportsmanship and respect shown by all players was a credit to both teams and their coaches.
Thanks to all parents & families who have supported the boys throughout the year; thanks too to all the volunteers at Nuneaton RFC who ensure that the rugby magic happens week in, week out - without your commitment, this would not be possible.
