ATFA Brinsley Falcons 🦅 vs Eastwood Athletic All Stars
📅 18th April 2026
📍 Brinsley Recreation Ground
First Half
The Falcons came out of the blocks flying, looking sharp, confident, and ready to take control.
At the back, Finley was putting in crucial tackles, showing composure under pressure, while Lincoln dictated the tempo in central midfield. Oliver was everywhere — breaking up play and driving the team forward — and out wide, Riley and James were causing constant problems. Up top, Charlie was a real handful, keeping the Eastwood defence on their toes.
The first big chance fell to Charlie, who attempted an ambitious looping effort from range, only to be denied by a strong save from the keeper.
Riley then thought he had produced a moment of magic — smashing home an incredible strike from a kick-in — but unfortunately the goal was ruled out as it hadn’t been touched beforehand.
The pressure continued to build. A dangerous corner from Riley nearly found Charlie, who came close to deflecting it in at the near post.
Despite the Falcons dominating possession and creating the better chances, Eastwood managed to capitalise on an opportunity. It was a tough one to take, especially with their goalkeeper in inspired form.
Second Half
The second half saw a defensive change, with Alastair coming on for Finley — both proving to be reliable rocks at the back.
The Falcons continued to play some excellent football. A slick passing move saw Oliver arrive at the back post, but his effort drifted just wide. Moments later, James had a similar chance — again, agonisingly close.
As the half wore on, tired legs began to show and Eastwood grew into the game slightly. Daniel was called into action more frequently as the opposition pushed forward.
The Falcons refused to give in.
A brilliant attacking move saw James almost tap home, only for a defender to intervene at the last second and deflect the ball over.
Then came one of the biggest moments of the game — Charlie struck with his weaker foot from just outside the box. The ball looked to have crossed the line after the keeper got a touch, but the goal wasn’t given, much to the disbelief of the Falcons coaches.
Moments later, another scramble in the box saw multiple efforts blocked — Lincoln, Charlie, and James all involved — but somehow Eastwood survived. It just wasn’t falling for the Falcons.
Out wide, Riley continued to be a constant threat, but was on the receiving end of a heavy challenge. Jonah rushed on to assist, and it looked like a painful knock — we’re all hoping our number 10 is okay ❤️
As fatigue set in, Eastwood created further chances, but Alastair produced a superb last-ditch tackle to deny what looked like a certain goal.
Full Time
It was one of those days where the Falcons created plenty of opportunities and played some excellent football, but were repeatedly denied by a combination of strong goalkeeping and resilient defending.
After the match, both teams showed great sportsmanship, shaking hands before enjoying a fun penalty shootout together.
