The Dance Studios Company History
Founded in 1997 by current owners Jill Edwards and Maxine Loydall, The Dance Studios teach both children's and adults classes.

In 1997 TDS opened it's first class in West Bridgford. In 1997 TDS moved to new dance studios on Carrington Street Nottingham. In 2003 TDS opened a second dancing school in Oakham, Rutland. In 2015 TDS moved to their new HQ in Hockley, Nottingham. Our new studios have 4 great dance studios, 2 changing rooms, reception and its very own Cafe. With full time teachers and specialist part time teachers

we teach the ISTD approved class syllabus, (The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing). We now have over 34 children's dance classes plus an additional 10 adult dance classes each week. Children classes are available in a range of grades and age groups for Ballet, Tap, Modern, Jazz and Limbering. Our adult Ballet and Tap classes cover a wide range of levels from Beginners to Advanced. Our students have the opportunity to learn to dance in a wide variety of classes (incl Tap, Ballet, Modern, Jazz and Limbering), attend exclusive workshops hosted at The Dance Studios by industry professionals, perform in our annual show, take dance exams, compete in regional competitions and audition for local, national and international projects.

WOW, What an incredible experience at the Pure Dance Festival! We may be a little late with our results but it’s been a busy few weeks 🙈. However, it truly was a week we will never forget. As teachers, we couldn’t be prouder of every single dancer, the commitment, passion, and hard work shone through in every performance. Everyone performed with such grace, confidence, and heart, and it was genuinely beautiful to watch everyone express themselves on stage. Seeing the growth, teamwork, and sheer joy from all our dancers made it so special, and it’s moments like these that remind us exactly why we love what we do.
Not only did the team win a phenomenal amount of placings and trophies but TDS walked away with the festivals Bursary Winners and Runners up! What an amazing achievement!
WOW WOW WOW. After such a busy few months we are still on cloud 9.

What better way to celebrate than reminiscing about TDS SHOW 2026… because WOW, what a weekend that was!! 💥💃

The energy, the talent, the teamwork, the pure JOY on that stage… it really was something special. From the first step to the final bow, every single dancer gave it their all and created memories we’ll never forget ❤️

We laughed, we cheered, we maybe shed a few proud tears 🥹… and we LOVED every second of it!

Here’s to the magic of dance, the friendships it brings, and the moments that stay with us forever ✨

What a weekend. What a show. What a team ❤️

TDS SHOW 2026 you left us speechless, you absolutely blew us away — from the first step on stage to the final curtain call, every single moment was filled with passion, energy, and pure magic. We couldn’t be prouder of our incredible students who gave it everything they had and more. You truly lit up that stage! 🌟

After months of hard work, commitment, and heart… we stood together this weekend and created something incredibly special and we are truly proud to be TDS! ❤️ As teachers we are so incredibly proud of every single one of our students and receiving all of your wonderful messages mean the absolute world to us 🌎 Thank you for all of our beautiful cards and gifts, they were such a touching surprise at the end of the Finale!

A HUGE thank you to everyone who helped make all of this possible…
our amazing backstage crew keeping everything running smoothly,
our dedicated chaperones looking after our performers,
our wonderful front of house staff who welcomed everyone with a smile,
