Company History
Founded in 1997 by current owners Jill Edwards and Maxine Loydall, The Dance Studios teach both children's and adults classes.

In 1997 TDS opened it's first class in West Bridgford. In 1997 TDS moved to new dance studios on Carrington Street Nottingham. In 2003 TDS opened a second dancing school in Oakham, Rutland. In 2015 TDS moved to their new HQ in Hockley, Nottingham. Our new studios have 4 great dance studios, 2 changing rooms, reception and its very own Cafe. With full time teachers and specialist part time teachers

we teach the ISTD approved class syllabus, (The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing). We now have over 34 children's dance classes plus an additional 10 adult dance classes each week. Children classes are available in a range of grades and age groups for Ballet, Tap, Modern, Jazz and Limbering. Our adult Ballet and Tap classes cover a wide range of levels from Beginners to Advanced. Our students have the opportunity to learn to dance in a wide variety of classes (incl Tap, Ballet, Modern, Jazz and Limbering), attend exclusive workshops hosted at The Dance Studios by industry professionals, perform in our annual show, take dance exams, compete in regional competitions and audition for local, national and international projects.

NOW ENROLLING in our children’s classes for our new Autumn/Winter Term- Starting back on 1st SEPTEMBER 2026 ⭐️

All ages and abilities welcome. TDS are situated in Hockley, Nottingham in our fabulous home equipped with 4 spacious studios and much more.

We provide children’s classes in Ballet, Tap, Modern, Jazz and Commercial, Pointework, Acrobatics and Body Conditioning and Progressing Ballet Technique as well as Adult Classes in Ballet, Tap and Contemporary. We follow the ISTD syllabus along with Acrotrix and Acrobatic Arts.

Alongside our regular, weekly syllabus classes, our children are invited to partake in our biannual shows, examinations and multiple competitions across the country, promotional work and much more.

We know how much hard work, dedication and determination you have put into reaching this point, and today is a day to celebrate YOU and everything you have achieved. 🌟

Your years of dance training have taught you so much more than steps and choreography. They’ve taught you discipline, resilience, commitment, confidence, teamwork and how to keep going even when things get tough. 💪🏼🩰✨

Those qualities will stay with you long after you leave the studio and will help you in whatever exciting adventure comes next. 🎓🌎

Whatever your results, remember that one set of results does not define you or your future. Be proud of how far you’ve come and all the memories, friendships and lessons you’ve gained along the way.

Some friendships are made by chance… ours were made through dance. ♥️

From tiny first steps in the studio to standing together on stage, these dancers have shared so much more than routines. They’ve shared laughter, nerves, achievements, tears, endless memories, and moments they’ll never forget.

At TDS, we’re so proud to see friendships grow into lifelong bonds. Dance may have brought them together, but it’s the love, support, and memories they’ve created that have made them family.

Because at the end of the day, dance friends really do become family. 💖✨

Every year, one of our favourite traditions is heading down to watch the Pride Parade, and today was no exception! 🏳️‍🌈✨

At TDS, we believe in celebrating kindness, inclusivity and being proud of who you are. It’s always such an inspiring day filled with colour, music, dancing and an incredible sense of community.

Our students love soaking up the atmosphere, cheering everyone on and being part of a city that celebrates diversity and acceptance. ❤️

Today, our studios welcomed the one and only ADAM GARCIA! 🤩

It was an absolute privilege to have such an accomplished performer in our studios, spending time practising his incredible tap skills. Watching someone of his calibre still putting in the hard work, perfecting every step and never stopping learning, was truly inspiring.

A fantastic reminder to all of our dancers that success comes from dedication, passion and practice—no matter how far you’ve come.

A huge thank you to Adam for choosing TDS today. It was an honour to have you with us, and we hope to welcome you back again soon! ⭐

What an incredible two weekends we had at the North Leicestershire Dance Festival a few weeks ago!

Despite the soaring temperatures, every single one of our dancers showed such determination, resilience and professionalism. Dancing in the heat is never easy, but everyone gave 100% every time they stepped onto the stage, and we couldn’t be prouder.

The results were absolutely fantastic, but what has made us the proudest is the support, kindness and team spirit shown throughout the festival. Watching our dancers encourage one another, perform with confidence and represent TDS so beautifully has been wonderful to see.

A huge well done to you all. We are so proud of each and every one of you. Congratulations on another amazing festival
