MAY BUMPS 2026 MBC REPORT:
After a productive training camp in Lake Bled, members of MBC hit the ground running at the start of Easter term in preparation for bumps. MBC entered a total of five crews this year: O1, O2, O3 and W1 & W2
The first men’s crew rowed over in the first two days of bumps, chasing down Jesus O1. They put up an impressive fight against King’s O1 and Pembroke O1 chasing them down on Friday and Saturday, respectively, and finished the campaign on station 8 in the first division.
The men’s second crew started off on station 4 in the third division, and successfully managed to bump Clare Hall O1 on day 1 and Downing O2 on day 2! The crew rowed over on day 3 and will be starting on station 3 division 3 next year.
The men’s third boat produced impressive results despite the fact that most of the crew learned how to row a few weeks before bumps. They finished thirteenth in the men’s fourth division.
The women’s first boat showed a strong performance against speedy crews. On the final day of bumps, the crew rowed over, chasing down Selwyn W1 and moving quickly away from King’s W1. The crew displayed a huge step up since lent bumps.
The women’s second boat had an amazing campaign, continuing the success of lent bumps. The crew very rapidly bumped Pembroke W3 (day 2) and Queen’s W3 (day 4) within the first few minutes of the race, and received two technical row overs due to late clearance of boats ahead.
Well done to all crews who raced, and we look forward to seeing you next year as a student/alumni! GTF 💜💜💜
