BUMPS REPORT💜🌿
At the end of an exhausting Easter Term, MBC took on the huge challenge of May Bumps, 4 days of close, gruelling racing in the heat. MBC entered 5 crews- two women’s and three men’s.
M1 began on Wednesday second on the river. After a year of rapid improvement, and several Michaelmas novices in the boat, M1 were unfortunately bumped each day. A difficult week, but they more than did MBC proud by holding off the fastest crews on the Cam for far longer than some colleges expected. They more than rose to the huge challenge and will be back next year💪
W1 began their week firmly in division 1. They completely a hugely impressive row-over in front of Fitzwilliam W1 on day one, but were then bumped on days 2 and 3. They had to bring everything to day 4, and managed another fantastic row-over to hold off Kings, who were eventually bumped by Peterhouse W1. It was a positive week for W1, who remain strongly in Div 1!
M2 had somewhat of a tough day one, and the week ahead was beginning to look tough… However, they completely turned their campaign around, by bumping on days two and three, before a strong row-over on the final day! A super impressive campaign for M2!
W2 began their week at the bottom of Division 3. The boat looked slightly different to Lents, notably with a novice, plus ex-M1 cox Grace!! The girls faced a tough few days, but rowed super well- looking very clean. They were unfortunately bumped each day, but did fantastically in a tough spot.
M3 had almost an identical campaign to M2- with a less-then-ideal day one, but were also able to completely turned their campaign their week around by bumping twice on the next two days!! They completed their highly impressive week with a row-over behind Catz M3!!
It was a positive week for MBC on the whole, after somewhat a year of new beginnings for the club! We will return in the Autumn, hungry for more….
