The DSA can claim yet another roaring success this week in our quest to make Meadow Lane fully accessible.
A tad more than a year ago, Jayne Chapman, pictured below joined the DSA Committee and immediately set about the task of writing to the Council about dropping some kerbs on the junction of Ironmonger Road and Ashing Street adjacent to the Nest.
This particular crossing is not only dangerous due to the traffic and pedestrians on match days but also causes concerns with arctic lorries loading/unloading their goods on the main road with fork lifts.
The initial contact with the council was lukewarm but Jayne persisted like a dog with bone and was not prepared to have the can kicked down the road (pun intended) as this is a serious issue for all disabled supporters trying to get around the stadium.
Committee Members Tony lane & Lisa Gold also wrote to the council with their concerns. Cue several calls and emails later we are very proud to say that works on said junction have been approved & confirmed in writing to us. Although the scheme is in its development stage the works are to be completed in the 2026 / 2027 period courtesy of the Road Safety & Road Safety Education, Nottingham City Council.
