Last week, our VR Implementation Specialist, Anya, attended the XR Network+ Roadshow at the 's VIP Studio. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with the local XR community and dive into the latest emerging technologies shaping our industry.

Between hands-on demos and cross-sector discussions, the event highlighted the incredible pace of innovation within the UK’s immersive landscape.

It was inspiring to see how researchers and creators are pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the studio. Seeing these emerging technologies firsthand really reinforces how immersive tools are evolving to become more accessible and impactful than ever before.

A huge thank you to the XR Network+ team and the University of Nottingham for hosting such an insightful session!

Last week, we were invited to attend Allia’s Tech For Good: Impact Summit at the ! 🏛️

Our team had a fantastic time presenting how Virtual Reality is transforming design education and soft skills development. Throughout the day, we ran live, interactive demonstrations of VirtualSpeech and , giving attendees a firsthand look at how VR can fit into their curriculum or internal workflows.

From guests pitching business ideas to virtual investors to others sketching out new 3D product concepts, it was a brilliant showcase of VR's tangible value in the real world. 🚀

Our latest video is live! This week, Anya brings the bespoke chair for the Dryden Enterprise Centre to life using surface modelling and AR visualisation.

By transitioning from the wireframe into surface modelling, Anya builds from the wireframe to create a 3D model of her design. This workflow allows for rapid CMF iteration, where different textures can be compared instantly in real-time. The final step uses Augmented Reality to demonstrate the scale and presentation of the product within the actual space.

Next Friday, we wrap up the series by moving the project into to create a virtual display for the finished design.

We're back with the project in the Digital Immersive Studio at the Dryden Enterprise Centre! This week, our VR Specialist Anya is taking us deeper into the furniture design process in .

Following last week's ideation phase, the focus now shifts to Refinement and Structural Integrity.

Refining the 3D wireframe is where the concept truly takes shape. By fine-tuning the geometry at this stage, .awright creates a precise blueprint that ensures the final surfaces flow seamlessly without any alignment issues later in the process.🏗️🪑

What is next? Next Friday, we move into the final stages: Surface Modelling and CMF application (Colours, Materials, and Finishes). 🎨

We had a brilliant time last week at the Amber Valley Skills Festival and STEM fair! It was all about showing the next generation how Virtual Reality is actually used in the creative industries.

Our demonstrations included:

: Students explored how VR is used for professional industrial design and 3D prototyping.
VirtualSpeech : Students got to experience an interview experience with real-time constructive feedback

It is so inspiring to see students get hands-on with these tools as they start thinking about their future careers.

The Finale: Episode 4 of Anya’s series is live! 🎒✨

The hiking backpack is officially finished. In this final episode, .awright builds out a full presentation environment to show the design in its true context. Seeing a product at a 1:1 scale in VR is a total game changer for making those final design calls.

From rough sketches to refined surface modelling and CMF, this series has shown just how far you can take a concept in an immersive space. It is faster, more intuitive, and lets you iron out the ergonomics before you even think about a physical prototype.

Episode 3 of Anya’s series is live!

If you’re new here, Gravity Sketch is an immersive 3D design tool that lets you sketch, model, and refine products in real time using Virtual Reality.

In this series, Anya is documenting her full design process while developing a hiking backpack concept from scratch.

Episodes 1 & 2 focused on ideating and refining the overall direction.
Now in Episode 3, the project moves further into development with a focus on surface modelling and CMF (Colour, Material & Finish), refining forms, exploring materials, and shaping the product’s visual identity.

Next Friday, Anya will begin building a presentation environment to showcase the final design 👀✨
