I do hear some rubbish rumours about the lake, unfortunately I also have to pick up rubbish when people (I won't call them anglers) decide to dump it rather than taking it home.
Towards the end of July there was a low pressure storm at night which is the worst time to have one and oxygen levels can crash. This resulted in some cats, carp and pike deaths. Strangely no silvers.
Water pumps and compressors have since been used to raise the oxygen levels. The EA lent us a pump for a couple of days. When water last tested by the EA O² levels were basically back to normal.
Overall the fish stock level in the last weeks has reduced by less than 1%.
Best cat since was 73-12
Best carp since was 37-8
Best total cats 12 in two nights
Best total carp about 14 in three nights.
Overall fishing has been a bit slow in August but mainly due to the hot weather. Still several pbs been caught.
I still hear rumours of sturgeon NO sturgeon in the lake.
I hear rumours of 80lb 90lb and even 100lb cats here again NO NO NO
Lake record cat is 79-11
Lake record carp is 40lb

A rather strange weekend for cat catches.
Winning pair was Clive and James 8 cats for 239-9 just short of a 30lb average. All cats for Clive 💪👏👏
Second place to Steve and Ashley a fish of 41-10 (for Steve)
Third place Danny and Robbie a fish of 29-12 (for Danny)
Everyone else a blank not counting some pike and carp, some lost cats and lots of pickups and drops including some really good runs but no other catfish.
Everyone enjoyed the weekend especially the friendships rekindled or established and of course the Northern Special meat pies, mushy peas, mash, gravy and liquid refreshments. Thanks again to The Roebuck Inn, Otley and Michael Pickard.
Thanks also to Catfish Xtreme for the winning and 2nd place prizes and individual samples for all participants.
Many have asked is there going to be a similar event next year 🤔🤫😉

The final of the Northern Fish With Your Mates event has started. Shame it's at a small NORTHERN Lake even though its 6 acres holds over 800 catfish.
Thank you to Catfish Xtreme for offering to sponsor the event. Prizes for each of the winning pair and for the second place. All participants were also given a pot of baits before the start.

The final of the Northern fish with your mates event starting Friday 9th May is approaching.
Northern special meat pies sorted, along with mushy peas, mash gravy and liquid refreshments.
Catfish Xtreme have kindly sponsored the event and are kindly donating a bait bundle to the winning pair and to the second place pair.

1000lb of cats caught in the small (6 acre) Northern Fishery (with over 800 catfish) Fish with your mates pairs event.
Plus approximately 400lb of mainly cats and a few carp caught on the swims not being used for the event.
Again excellent Northern Special Pies, mushy peas, mash, gravy curtesy of The Roebuck Inn, Otley. Plus liquid refreshments.
Best fish was a new pb for Mark Quimby at 59lb followed by another pb of 68lb. 2(or more😉) 🪣 🪣 taken in the same great spirit that the match was fished.
Looking forward to the final on Friday May 9th to Sunday 11th.

All refreshed with Northern special pie, mushy peas, mash, gravy and liquid refreshments.
All pairs have caught, some more than others or bigger than others.
Best fish at the moment to Mark Quimby 69lb
Last heat's winning swims are currently last but that was the situation last time until the Saturday night when a few changes were made.
Social has been excellent, fishing with your mates is always better than on your own.
One of the pies 🥧 didn't make it to the lake 😕 someone had to test it 😋😋😋

Friday 25th May is the second heat of the small NORTHERN Lake (6 acres) with over 800 catfish Fish With Your Mates pairs event. Swim draw will be approximately 10am and fishing starting at 12noon or earlier if everyone is ready.
NORTHERN Special Meat Pies are ordered, along with mushy peas, mash and gravy curtesy of The Roebuck Inn, Otley. Thank you to Michael Pickard top chef and cat angler. Liquid refreshments already acquired.

As a small NORTHERN Fishery of 6 acres stocked with over 800 catfish to nearly 80lb I am holding a pairs match event in3 parts
Each pair fishing alongside your mates
Heat 1 on 4th to 6th April
Heat 2 on 25th to 27th April
Top 4 from each heat going forward to the final on 9th to 11th May
Cost £80 pp =£160 a pair.
Losing 4 pairs will be given a free 48hrs midweek session for the pair.
So two 48hrs sessions for £80pp
Finalists will be also be getting 2 48hrs sessions for £80pp
Fishing will be 12noon Friday to 12noon Sunday except Saturday about 1pm when special NORTHERN meat pie, mushy peas, mash and gravy will be provided free of charge, along with a range of drinks.
No other catfish organisation will be involved.
Lists of participants of a previous attempt to do such a venture are added.
