๐ŸŽต What if music is doing more for your brain than you realise โ€” and you could use it to your advantage?
We often think of music as something we enjoy.
But new research suggests it may be doing something much more powerful โ€”
๐Ÿ‘‰ changing how the brain functions.
From increasing blood flowโ€ฆ
to strengthening connections between brain cellsโ€ฆ
to influencing memory, mood and coordinationโ€ฆ
Music activates multiple systems at once.
The interesting part?
๐Ÿ‘‰ How you use music may matter just as much as listening to it.
๐Ÿ‘‡ We break down what the science says โ€” and how to use it โ€” in our latest Turn Back the Clock: The Age-Defying Edit

Older adults who consistently attended a community exercise programme slowed down โ€“ and in many cases reversed โ€“ the usual age-related declines in fitness and strength. The longer they stayed active, the more protected their health, independence and physical confidence became.

We're closing the strength gap ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป

Our Class Members Are Bucking the National Trend

Older adults are the least likely to strength train in the UK.
But thanks to the hundreds of members who responded to our latest survey, we know our Move it or Lose it members are bucking the trend. Hereโ€™s what we found:
๐Ÿ’ช 97% are doing strength training at least once a week
๐Ÿ’ช 47% are doing it twice a week or more
๐Ÿ’ช 92% feel physically stronger
๐Ÿ’ช 98% believe strength training is helping them stay independent

And this is what strength looks like in real life:
โœ” 70% find getting up from a chair easier
โœ” 43% find climbing stairs easier
โœ” 42% can walk longer distances
โœ” 35% find carrying shopping easier

Itโ€™s exactly what Professor Janet Lord describes as one of the most powerful interventions we have to prevent frailty and maintain independence.

Our members arenโ€™t slowing down.
Theyโ€™re getting stronger.
