An absolutely brilliant weekend at Anglesey! Not only is this possibly one of the best tracks the UK has to offer but we’ve definitely had the best weekend of racing this year! With the return of Ian Tennant in the chair it was the first time at Anglesey where I’ve had the same passenger as for the last 4 years I’ve had 4 different passengers😂.
Practice went ok, still having an issue with the front tyre going down and we could noticeably feel it but still set the second fastest time so that was promising.
Race 1, we got a crap start, boxed in at the first turn. With a new tyre on the bike just did not want to turn great, but we set on after the Mead pairing trying to get passed them, then the returning Moto Guzzi of Steve/Mel came passed us so we had a new carrot to chase, once they had passed the Meads we had to get passed and we managed to make a move and it stuck, we couldn’t find a way passed the Guzzi but it was so good to see it back out on track! 4th overall, 1st in class!🥇
Race 2, another poor start saw us get boxed in again. Started to make a few passes into the race and got passed the Meads again. And had a great battle throughout the race with the Davenport pairing on the F125 Aprilia, that was such good fun! I’ve waited 5 years to race them and it did not disappoint, swapping places every lap they did manage to sneak off into the distance. Finished the race 4th overall, 1st in class!🥇
Race 3, would you guess it we got a decent start but boxed in again, I’ve decided the left side of the grid at Anglesey is definitely not the best side to be on😂. We had a great first couple of laps dicing with the Meads and the Davenports, I tried a few times to get passed them into the left hander on the hill but lack of brakes did make it harder, so spent most of the lap pumping them to get them to reappear where we needed them but they rode great and didn’t get near them after that! Finished 5th overall, 2nd in class!🥈
Race 4, starting on the right hand side of the grid we got a much better start and was up there straight away. We possible had the most fun close racing we’ve had all season, swapping places constantly with the Davenports whilst chasing the Guzzi of Steve/Mel with the Meads just a head, it really was the closest race we’ve had. The brakes seemed to be much better in this one so we managed to keep with them and had a few spots where we could’ve potentially made a move but we didn’t. Finished 5th overall, 2nd in class!🥈
Overall an absolutely brilliant weekend. We’ve still kept the championship lead heading into the final rounds at Cadwell Park next month. A big thanks to all officials, medics and of course the orange army, without them it would not be possible for us to have so much fun!🏁
