Adobe Women’s FA Cup Win for Basford United Ladies First Team

A solid team / squad performance today from every player secured a place in the next FA Cup draw.

A fantastic 5-0 win against Higham Town Women

9 players making their debut for the first time for Basford United Ladies First team at competitive level and 5 of them only 16 coming from junior football and 6 of them at the age of 16.

Goals on their debut for Mimi Wheatcroft and Millie Edwards.

Man of the match as voted by the opposition our number 10 Charlie Duthie.

Ahead of the new season and the first competitive game this Sunday in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup, we talk to Basford United Ladies First team manager Matt Wheatcroft.

In Wheatcroft’s first full interview with the club we ask about him arriving in January half way through last season and taking over the ladies team who sat bottom of the league at the time.

When then find out about the changes he has made since joining the club and how pre-season has gone along with expectations for the new season.

It’s a great insight to Basford United Ladies First Team and also newly formed Development Team as well.

It’s safe to say we are looking forward to getting the ladies season underway for both teams this Sunday.
