If you are Strength Training as you lose weight, your body will prioritise and protect muscle tissue and tend to burn more body fat for energy. Muscle tissue burns a lot of energy. When you are trying to lose weight and keep it off, it is critical that you do all that you can to burn primarily body fat and preserve muscle mass.

๐Ÿ’ฅ Mindsets change everything! When a woman comes and joins Curves, or we are working with a member to set goals they often have a good idea what they want to achieve.

๐Ÿคฏ Where it goes wrong in our mindset is not getting clear on our expectation of what is likely to actually happen (considering family, work hours, sleep patterns, metabolism, weight loss history, body composition and the fact most of us don't have a private chef!), and knowing what our standards are - not necessarily our standards of achievement either (i.e. not being happy with anything other than perfect or 100%). The standard of the actions we are willing, prepared and able to take.

๐Ÿ‘ญ As usual, this will be our take based on what we know, and what we have learned from our work with hundreds of women every day in the gym. We have been standing up against diet CULTURE for years, this doesn't mean we are anti-weight loss. We are here to help women be Stronger, healthier and happier and that means understanding how we change body composition, rather than simply lose weight.

๐Ÿ’ช Strengthening Women 2026 ๐Ÿ’ช The secret to our 30-minute workout is our machines ๐Ÿ”ฅ Let's take a closer look at the Chest Back machine, it is definitely an old favourite for most of you. Technically easy to use and THE best machine to feel that unique and amazing push-pull hydraulic resistance provided by our machines.

Have you felt it working? Machines that give us resistance in both directions are the secret to our 30-minute workout. In any other gym you would have to do "push" exercises and "pull" exercises. Our specially designed machines do both at once meaning you can work opposing muscle groups at the same time!

Before we get carried away there's serious work to be done on this machine. Working the chest and the back there are also some great practical benefits from this machine;

๐Ÿ’œ Strong chest and back muscles help to alleviate back pain
๐Ÿ’œ Improved posture - making you look and feel a million dollars
๐Ÿ’œ Strengthened muscular support while doing everyday tasks making them seem easier
๐Ÿ’œ Improved flexibility, function and muscle balance by working opposing muscle groups evenly
๐Ÿ’œ Less pressure on the shoulders โ€“ improved muscle function in the upper body means less stress into the shoulder joint, reducing risk of injury or chronic conditions such as frozen shoulder.
