🌿 Summer Yin & Sound | Nature, Nourish & Nurture 🌿

Join myself and Annette from Balanced Pathways on Wednesday 15th July, 6.00-7.30pm, at Grove Farm Wellbeing for a special outdoor edition of Yin & Sound, surrounded by fields, trees and the beauty of the Norfolk countryside.

We’ll begin with 60 minutes of Restorative Yin Yoga – gentle, long-held stretches to release tension, encourage stillness and create space within the body. Throughout the practice you’ll be accompanied by the soothing, therapeutic vibrations of sound healing.

This summer-inspired sequence will focus on the Kidney and Spleen meridians, associated with the Water and Earth elements in Traditional Chinese Medicine. These energetic pathways are linked to nourishment, grounding, vitality and inner balance. By gently stimulating these meridians through Yin Yoga, we can support the body’s natural ability to slow down, replenish and reconnect.

As the evening light softens, we’ll then settle into a deeply relaxing 30-minute Sound Bath, allowing the sounds and vibrations to wash over you as you rest beneath the open sky.

A chance to pause, breathe deeply, connect with nature and nourish yourself from the inside out. ✨

A year ago I was running, practising strong flows, arm balances and all the things I thought made me “strong”.

Fast forward a year and I’m sitting on the floor doing leg raises.

My knee has now been causing problems for a year now (but it’s always been the weaker one with Osgood-Schlatter disease when I was young). What started as pain when kneeling gradually became pain with yoga, gardening and more recently even walking. Along the way I’ve had multiple GP appointments, an MRI, seen three physios and spent months wondering what on earth was going on 😩

Meanwhile my shoulder decided to join the party too. Last December it became so painful that I developed bursitis and suddenly all my attention and worry went there - so I just managed my knee, adapted around it and carried on.

But as my shoulder has slowly healed and improved 🙏 my knee has made it very clear that it still needs help.

This week, for the first time, I finally got some answers into what’s going on. My vastus medialis (VMO) muscle has significantly weakened and the structures around my kneecap and quadriceps tendon have been working overtime to compensate.

So my rehab currently consists of… leg raises.

Not handstands.
Not arm balances.
Not fancy transitions.

Leg raises.

And honestly? It’s been surprisingly emotional (I did tear up at the physio). There’s a loss of confidence that comes with injury. A fear that your body won’t do what it used to. A frustration when something as simple as walking becomes painful.

Instagram can be a difficult place to be when you’re surrounded by incredible shapes, deep backbends and advanced poses while you’re celebrating a set of 10 leg raises.

But this is yoga too. Listening, adapting and meeting yourself where you are.

So here’s to rebuilding from the ground up. One leg raise at a time 🤍🎉

If you’re navigating injury, chronic pain or a body that isn’t doing what it used to, you’re not alone. I am right here with you cheering you on from the floor 👏🏻👏🏻

Things I refuse to do as a yoga teacher…

I chose these because they all come back to the kind of space I want to hold: safe, present, respectful, non-performative, and welcoming.

1. ✨ Taking photos or videos during class anymore

I have taken some in the past for publicity and to help promote my offerings, but going forwards I don’t want to interrupt the flow, bring phones into the space, or make anyone feel watched during their practice.

2. ✨ Being online all the time

After burnout, injury and overwhelm, I’ve had to soften my relationship with social media, scroll less, compare less, and actually practise the presence I teach.

3. ✨ Making yoga all about perfect alignment

Alignment matters, especially for safety, but I care more about helping you feel the shapes in your own body than forcing everyone into one “perfect” version of a posture.

4. ✨ Locking the door if you’re late

Life happens, and as someone who has always struggled with timekeeping, I don’t want to add shame or stress - as long as you can come in quietly and respectfully, you are welcome.

5. ✨ Tolerating unsafe behaviour

My classes are built on respect, care and trust, and I will always address predatory, inappropriate or troubling behaviour to protect the safety of the group.

6. ✨ Bringing other teachers down

I’m really over the culture of shaming other teachers online. We all teach differently, and just because something doesn’t feel right for me doesn’t mean it’s wrong for someone else.

Yoga is not a performance.
It is not content.
It is not about perfect shapes.

It is a space to come home to yourself - softly, honestly and safely 🌙✨

We shared such a beautiful moment of peace on Wednesday evening at for our Candlelit Yin & Yoga Nidra. 🕯️

Together, we explored the water element and water healing through this deeply restorative practice. This Yin Mermaid shape is one of my absolute favourites - a chance to sink in, soften, and open through the side body and shoulder, with a little added mermaid magic as we used our blankets to create tails 🧜‍♀️🧜🏿

We finished with a water healing yoga nidra and card pull and plenty of delicious snacky snacks - thank you so much to everyone who joined 💙

I’ll be sharing the date for our next candlelit session soon: a Myo-Yin evening where we’ll explore deep holds, myofascial release techniques, and close with Yoga Nidra, so you can float home feeling beautifully relaxed and ready for bed 🌊✨

Let me know if this is something you would be interested in joining 🤍
