TKDA Taekwondo Academy is a martial arts club run by family to give a great martial arts experience to people of all ages who wish to learn martial arts, or increase fitness, flexibility and strength. Our experienced instructors teach practical classes with emphasis on both the sport and the practical application for self defence. We do evening classes for all age groups

TKDA Taekwondo Academy is

the spiritual successor to N.A.M.A., the Norwich Academy of Martial Arts. We opened in October of 2018, with two instructors, Barney Mewton, 3rd Dan and his brother Angus Mewton, 3rd Dan. Both Angus and Barney are former students of Peter and Lyn and are following in their footsteps to teach the same Taekwondo style. The story of TKDA is another chapter in that of N.A.M.A. Opened in January of 2007, Norwich Academy of Martial Arts has already built up a large membership, from young to old and even full family members. is jointly owned by Peter Shipley 5th Dan and his mum Lyn Shipley 3rd Dan, they work closely together and teach many of the classes. Both, or at least one of them is there every night training or just there to help with questions. With over 40 years of martial arts experience between them, the Shipleys have a vast knowledge of their arts on every level. Peter has competed successfully in national and international competitions in all disciplines and produced students to the same high standard.

I just want to say a massive thank you to everyone for a wonderful year of Taekwondo!!!! I really appreciate your support and all the hard work you've put into your training, it really means so much and the club wouldn't be possible without you all, so thank you all so much!!!!
I also wanted to take the chance to say that the next lesson is Monday 5th January (so no lessons until then unfortunately!) But for those who've only been with us a short while, we otherwise run at all times of the year other than bank holidays.
Hope you all have a fabulous next couple of weeks and hope to see you all on 5th January at 5.30 at the Harford Community Centre!

Grading time is upon us again. Saturday 1st march 2025

NR10 5JR.
For those going for Red, Yellow and Orange belts
Please arrive at 9:45 am and warm yourselves up to Start at 10am sharp.
For those going for Green belt and above please arrive at 10:30 ish and warm up ready once the first session has been completed.
Those that are in the second part (Green and above ) when you arrive please be respectful of those doing there grading so please stretch out in the kitchen area or out of the way. But please show appreciation when belts and certificates are awarded.
Also don’t forget you sparing pads as we only have limited spare ones. Good luck to all and you will smash it

Good evening lovely people. We have a small issue with the grading venue this coming Saturday. It’s been double booked and as we booked last we have to change the time and date of our grading. The options are.

Saturday 9th November 3 pm start

Sunday 10th November 10am start with a minutes silence at 11am

Saturday 16th November 10 am start.

Please could you all reply with your preferred option asap
