Menopause is a natural change that comes with physical and emotional changes.

With hormonal changes, symptoms such as loss of bone density, weight gain and fatigue can become an issue.

Resistance training:

Resistance Training is the best way to maintain and even gain muscle.

Resistance Training can even help boost mood and can be great for regulating hormonal changes.

With bone density becoming a risk, we know that strength training increases bone density, which will reduce the risk of injuries later in life.

Staying hydrated while exercising 🚰💧💧

We need around 6 to 8 glasses of fluid a day to stay hydrated. This is increased with exercise and heat, and is even more important with the hot weather 🔥

Dehydration causes headaches and lack of concentration.
Our urine becomes darker in colour when we are dehydrated.

If you are thirsty then you are already dehydrated.

Exercise and physical activity increases your risk of Dehydration.
We need to make sure we keep hydrated before we become dehydrated.

Any nonalcoholic drinks can hydrate us, even coffee, which counts as liquid towards hydration, however it is a diuretic meaning it increases the production of urine.

Muscle Mass loss over 40

Why does it happen and how can you prevent it?

Age related muscle mass is called Sarcopenia and can happen naturally around the age of 40.

This can happen because of a development of anabolic resistance which is the bodies ability to break down and use proteins.

This can also happen due to a change of lifestyle where activity is reduced.

What are the consequences of low muscle mass?

Low muscle mass has can increase the risk of injuries and falls, this could lead to a result in a loss of independence.

“ A 2015 report from the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research found that people with sarcopenia had 2.3 times the risk of having a low-trauma fracture from a fall, such as a broken hip, collarbone, leg, arm, or wrist “

“Use it or lose it”

Using and training the muscles helps to keep and grow them. Aid this with a protein rich diet.

We recommend to start weight training as soon as possible to help prevent and treat Sarcopenia.

Since our last membership review in 2022, we’ve worked hard to reinvest back into the gym—upgrading equipment, enhancing the environment, and moving to a fully 24/7 model so you can train whenever it suits you. Your support has made all of this possible.

Like many small businesses, we’ve also seen a significant rise in operating costs over this time, including wages, utilities, business rates, and rent. In addition, becoming VAT registered means a portion of all membership income now goes directly to the government. We’ve absorbed these increases for as long as we could while continuing to invest in the gym.

To help us maintain the quality of the facility and continue making improvements, we will be introducing a 10% increase to membership pricing.

A plate loaded machine that allows you to sit in a deep Squat while maintaining form. This machine targets the lower body including glutes and quads.

The lock is easy to access on the right side of the equipment.
