🍇 Have you ever walked through a vineyard in the Norfolk countryside?

This week’s Walk with Annie took us on a beautiful 5.4km loop from Blofield Camping and Leisure.

After a short stretch through the village, we soon found ourselves surrounded by peaceful country lanes, wonderful footpaths and gorgeous open views. The route took us through St Michael’s Vineyard, past Braydeston Church, across a stunning meadow and onwards through Cremer’s Meadow and Marty’s Marsh.

There were a few stiles to navigate and, luckily for us, no cows in the field today! 🐄

We then passed St Andrew and St Peter’s Church before winding our way back through Blofield.

And the perfect way to finish? A well-earned coffee and slice of cake at Butterflies Café. ☕🍰

Save this walk for your next Norfolk adventure and let me know if you’ve explored this route before!

Have you ever been told that osteoarthritis is simply “wear and tear”? 🦴

This description can make it sound as though your joint is worn out and that using it will only cause more damage.

But osteoarthritis is much more complex.

Your joints are made from living tissues that are constantly responding, adapting and repairing. Osteoarthritis involves changes throughout the whole joint, including the cartilage, bone, joint lining and surrounding muscles.

Most importantly, movement doesn’t “wear out” your joints.

Appropriate exercise can help to:
✓ reduce pain and stiffness
✓ strengthen the muscles supporting your joints
✓ improve balance and confidence
✓ maintain your mobility and independence
✓ improve energy and mood

Lifestyle factors can also play a role. Regularly moving your body, getting enough sleep, stopping smoking and working towards a healthy waist circumference may all help you manage your symptoms.

Start with small, achievable changes and gradually build from where you are. You don’t need to do everything at once.

Your joint isn’t simply “worn out”—and a diagnosis of osteoarthritis doesn’t mean you have to stop doing the things you enjoy. 💚

A woodland walk followed by coffee and cake? My perfect combination! 🌿☕🍰

This week’s Walk with Annie starts at Urban Jungle in Costessey before heading towards snakehill wood and exploring the woodland near Queen’s Hills. We completed a circular loop,
Returning via Ringland Lane, finishing back at Urban Jungle.

Nordic Walking poles vs WALX poles… 👀

This can be a controversial topic in the Nordic Walking world, but I actually really like both- just for different reasons.

For Nordic Walking, I use purpose-designed Nordic Walking poles with a strap/glove system. That connection to the pole is an important part of achieving the full Nordic Walking technique, allowing you to push through the strap and release the grip as the hand travels behind the body.

But as a physiotherapist I also love having WALX poles as an option.

For some people, particularly in rehabilitation, the priority might be support, stability and building confidence with walking. Others simply don’t like feeling attached to their poles and that’s absolutely fine.

For me, it isn’t about declaring one pole the winner.

It’s about choosing the right pole for the person and what they want to achieve.

So… I want to know what you think 👇

Nordic Walking poles or WALX poles — which do you prefer and why?

The credit goes the the cameraman (often my mum) who has the patience to stand there whilst I mess up my words 100 times 😇 (My mum is basically the mum from mean girls, but instead of dancing, she is saying the words with me 😂😂)

Being camera shy and dyslexic isn’t the best combo 😂
