A periodic update on here to say that to say we are still around and considering options…
There is local political interest in our plight, however efforts to partner up with other youth organisations in the area don’t seem to be getting anywhere fast. Which perhaps brings us back to the question of whether there are enthusiastic and willing people locally to help us get up, running and thriving again?
Our ethos is that a thriving youth club should be packed out with good quality activities and a fun experience which helps children and young people grow in confidence and reach their potential. It should effectively meet local needs, it should never be a dwindling, half-hearted childminding service. It should be where both members and volunteers should feel welcome, be happy and safe from bullying. (We would only now operate from an appropriately run venue where this ethos can be met)
We’ve spoken to a lot of parents, former members and potential new ones who agree with this ethos and that that this is what the area really needs, question is how to make it happen? These things take time and effort to bring about and whilst we aren’t in a position to do this alone, it may be possible with more hands making lighter work of it.
If that sounds like something you or anyone you know could be interested in making happen, either helping to run sessions, the behind the scenes admin or fundraising, drop us a message and we could look to meet up and discuss things further.
