Today saw 4Sports Group entertain Boston in the game that would decide the Regional Champions of the WFA National Cup over 65s

The game, considering what was being played for, was played in an excellent spirit, a very good advert for very well refereed by Roy East.

The game started as it finished, a midfield contest with few opportunities to test the two keepers.

Boston were very patient, keeping possession well.

4Sports edged the first half going in 0-1 after a beautifully struck long range shot from a free kick clipped the post giving Hicksy no chance.

The woodwork played a big part, with the bar denying 4Sports after a lovely passing move culminating in a cracking shot from Colin.

Both teams playing some nice football, Boston protecting their lead whilst 4Sports searched for an equaliser.

Every player left it on the pitch..

Good luck in the next round Boston 👏🏻

Lovely to see so many supporting the ‘whites’.

NSS 65s v CSF

Report for today’s final over 60’s Wednesday league match; a match where the NSS over 65’s needed a draw to secure the title against a strong yet out of contention CSF side saw an intense game unfold.

From the outset CSF took control and were awarded a penalty within the first few minutes which was converted by Paul Kerrison and saw the 65’s receive a blue card

The 65’s couldn’t get forward and were punished with another well taken goal by CSF

The second quarter followed the same pattern and another penalty for too many running offences saw CSF go 3-0

The match should have been over but 65’s persevered and scored from a well taken free kick to make it 3-1

Poor discipline from both sides and unnecessary pressure on the referee made what should have been a showcase of high level walking football descend into a ill tempered affair

CSF caught the 65’s on the break with Chris Read finishing well when one on one with the keeper to make it 4-1

A disappointing day for the 65’s but CSF played exceptionally well on the day with Paul Kerrison outstanding and being the difference the two teams with a masterful display and a hat-rick to top it off

A dismal day for the older players but we stand together as a team and as friends

Congratulations to NSS 60’s who retain their title and a special mention to Matt who had to referee under sometimes unnecessary pressure

NSS 70s travelled to Billericay today to play in Essex Walking football league cup Group stages.

We topped our group with 1-0 victories over Chelmsford and Romford and 0-0 draw against Harlow which puts us through to last eight, goal scorers Arthur and Russell.

Good solid team performance and no goals conceded.

The ninth of ten matches in the Sunday League saw the unbeaten NSS Select Team win the Championship this morning with a game to spare with squad strength again evident as Kevin and Martin made their debuts for the team.

Up against a good Framingham Earl side, the first quarter saw outstanding saves from Martin and the opposition keeper before Ivan picked the ball up deep, strode across the halfway line and blasted in the first goal.

Quarter two saw Select increase their lead with Wayne finding space and sweeping the ball in to the bottom corner before Scott scored on the rebound following a goalmouth scramble.

It was far from comfortable though, with Framingham Earl netting with a long range shot with the keeper unsighted and then blasting a penalty against the crossbar.

Both keepers continued to excel in the second half. Matt arriving part way through the game after refereeing another tie rather than being airbrushed out of the team photo coolly slotted home two rebounds with Martin (our man of the match) saving Framingham Earl's second penalty in between to leave the final score 5 - 1.

7 team tournament today in Hunstanton.

Norwich Soca Seniors managed to win for the 3rd year running.

Beating the best side on the day Stamford in the final on pens.

Last night 4Sports 60's played Norwich CSF at Carrow Park, in the WFA Cup 2nd round.

A full strength 9 man CSF side ensured we had to battle for 40 mins and that's what we did.

More so when we went down to 5 players on 2 occasions due to blue cards.

Mike Lane was superb in goal and ensured it was 0-0 at full time.

Sadly we lost on penalties, but very proud in the way we battled on the night.

Good luck to CSF in the next round.
