🏏 A nail-biting finish for Brooke CC U13s against Norwich! 💙💛

What a brilliant performance from the team! It couldn’t have been closer, as we narrowly missed out by just 2 runs! 👏

Norwich CC won the toss and elected to bat first, posting a competitive 124 runs from 16 overs.

Brooke worked incredibly hard in the field and with the ball. J Boyt, stepping up from the U11s, bowled brilliantly, conceding just 9 runs from his 2 overs. L Carter-Thornton was also excellent, going for just 12 runs from his 2 overs.

A special mention must go to B Dannatt for taking a wicket, while S Toulson produced a crucial run-out with her last ball of the innings. Fantastic fielding and bowling from the whole team! 💪

A huge shout-out to T Greenway, who went in during the last over, held his nerve and did exactly what was asked of him. What a great effort under pressure! 👏

It was a thrilling game that could genuinely have gone either way, but sadly we just missed out by 2 runs. Well done to every player for their hard work, teamwork and determination. 💙

A massive thank you to J Boyt and J Toulson for stepping up to support the U13s again. Jonah made his mark behind the wickets, while James contributed with both bat and ball! 👏

And a huge thank you to Richard for hot-footing it back from Cambridge to umpire.

That brings our season to a close!

Sadly, our game against Sprowston was cancelled twice due to the weather, but what a fantastic season the team have had.

Finishing 3rd in a tightly fought Tier 2 league is an amazing achievement, and every single player should be incredibly proud of themselves! 💙💛

It’s fantastic to see some of our juniors taking the opportunity — and showing such great interest — in heading along to watch matches throughout the summer at various grounds during The Hundred! 🏏👏

A huge thank you to everyone for sharing your fabulous photos, and giving us a glimpse of our youngsters enjoying their cricket away from the club. 📸😊

It’s always brilliant to see their enthusiasm for the game, and hopefully all these fantastic experiences will inspire the next generation of Brooke cricketers! 🏏

Although, I have to say, the gift shop is definitely always one of the highlights of the day… time to get all merched up! 😉😍🤦🏼‍♀️🤣🏏

A great fight from the ladies!💙🏏

Topcroft & Brooke Women finished their season with a closely fought game against Acle.

Brooke won the toss and elected to field.

Great bowling and tight fielding restricted Acle to 110/3 from their 20 overs, with wickets falling to Jodie, Lilly and Sienna.

We had a target of 111 to chase. And chase we did! 💪🏏

Some great batting performances saw Lauren top score with 15, Saskia hit 11, and a special mention to Holly with 11 on her cricketing debut! 👏👏

A fantastic first game for Holly— and we're pretty sure this officially confirms she’s the best cricketer in the Setchell household now! 😉😂🏏

We finished on 91/6, falling short by just 20 runs.

But what a team performance and what a way to finish the season — the women have ended the year 4th in the league! 🎉🙌

A great achievement and a testament to the hard work, commitment and team spirit shown throughout the season.

Well done, ladies! 💙🏏👏

The other night at Brooke CC, the heavens had well and truly opened, but we were very lucky to have a visit from our much-loved, one-off character, Matt Plummer, and his wife Sarah, who arrived at the club in their famous Hippy Chippy Van to brighten our day!🍟🐟

They’d had their usual Friday frying night at the Brooke lay-by, but despite having had a busy evening, they very kindly came down to the club afterwards to feed some of us — and we felt very honoured indeed!

The food was absolutely delicious, and we can’t recommend it highly enough. And, of course, you get Matt’s wit, banter and repartee thrown in for free! What a Ledge! 😉😂

Matt isn’t only a very successful chippy man — he’s also had a fantastic season playing for our Brooke 3rd XI, scoring an impressive 180 runs and taking an outstanding 31 wickets! 🏏

A huge thank you to Matt and Sarah for coming along, feeding us so well and bringing plenty of laughs with them. Two absolute stars! ❤️🍟🐟🏏

The Hippy Chippy Van can usually be found at the Wheel of Fortune on Thursdays and Brooke lay-by on Fridays, and we look forward to seeing Matt on the cricket pitch again every Saturday next season! 😉🏏🎯💪🏻

What a fantastic and thrilling game of cricket! Brooke CC U13s have secured a hard-fought 5-run victory over Norwich! 🏏👏

Brooke lost the toss and were put into bat, but the team responded with a fantastic all-round batting performance.

H Salmon was the top scorer, retiring on an outstanding 30, including 6 fours and 1 six. B Dannatt contributed a superb 22, including 3 fours, while J Hayman and T Greenway both added 6 each and T Smith 1. 🏏🤩

But the real highlight came at the end of the innings, as A Mishra from the U9s and B Wakefield from the U11s stepped up to the U13s and put together a very strong partnership.👏🏻

The pair added an important 37 runs, with Aadhish finishing 12 not out and Brady a superb 25 not out, including 5 fours.

What little superstars, who were not phased one bit! 🏏🌟

Brooke finished on 128/5, setting Norwich a challenging target.

The Brooke bowlers then worked incredibly hard to defend the total, with everyone contributing both with the ball and in the field.🎯

S Dannatt, making his debut for Brooke, bowled a fantastic over, conceding just 5 runs. T Greenway also bowled well, finishing with 2 overs for 15 runs.

But the standout performance came from J Hayman, who bowled an excellent 4 overs for just 10 runs, taking 3 wickets. 🎯🔥 Jack held his nerve brilliantly, taking 2 crucial wickets in the very last over to ensure Norwich couldn't reach the target.

Norwich finished on 123/3 from their 16 overs, so Brooke won the closely fought match by just 5 runs!👏

A brilliant all-round team performance — runs on the board, excellent bowling, fantastic fielding and, most importantly, great composure when it mattered most!

A huge well done to Aadhish, Brady and Seb, who all stepped up and played brilliantly on their U13 debuts. What a way to make your mark! 💪⭐

A special mention to Harry, who did a great job behind the wickets and took a fabulous catch. And finally, a massive thank you to Greg for umpiring and helping bring home another win, and to Rick for scoring even though Play Cricket crashed!🤦🏼‍♀️🤪🙌

❤️ Safe travels Ashan! 🏏✈️

Brooke CC would like to wish our overseas professional player Ashan Randika and his wife, Tharaka, a safe journey home to Sri Lanka today.

What a season it’s been! 🙌

Ashan has been with us for a second year, and once again he’s made a big impact both on and off the field.

But it’s not just the runs and wickets that stand out…

Ashan has given so much back to Brooke CC, volunteering his own time to umpire junior matches, providing 1-to-1 coaching to support our young cricketers, and helping run our hugely successful Monday Junior Nets, Friday Community Cricket sessions and Summer Camps, alongside fellow Coach and team mate David Coyle.👏

A true club man who has made a difference both on and off the pitch.

And that’s a wrap on the 2026 league season! 🏏

Sadly, the rain had the final say once again! ☔️All three teams got their matches started, but the heavy downpours brought an early end to the 1st XI and 3rd XI games. Miraculously, the 2nd XI managed to squeeze in a T20 between the showers!

🔵 1st XI Vs Acle
Acle won the toss and batted first, reaching 102/2 from 25 overs before the rain stopped play. Robert Setchell and David Coyle took a wicket each before the game was abandoned.

🔵 2nd XI Vs Acle
A T20 was played due to the forecast, with the 2nd XI narrowly missing out by just 9 runs.

🎯 Chris Sheehy and Greg Taylor took a wicket each, with Mohamed Nifras taking 2 wickets.

🏏 Ali Shearer led the way with 46, Matt Carver made 25, and U15 player T King finished unbeaten on 23.

🔵 3rd XI Vs Diss
The 3rd XI managed 18 overs before the heavens opened.

🔥 Dave Welch put in a brilliant spell, taking 4 wickets for just 17 runs from 5 overs, including a maiden! Matt Plummer and D Gessner also picked up a wicket each.

It might not have been the ending we wanted after such a brilliant summer, but what a season it’s been for Brooke CC! 👏🏻🏏

We’ve seen so many highlights including our U15s making their 3rd XI team debuts, celebrated centuries, half-centuries, fivefers , and we’ve had plenty of names added to the honours boards. Lots of proud moments!

And the final league positions:

🏏 2nd XI — ranked 10th
🏏 3rd XI — ranked 5th

🏏 Brooke U13s – A Fantastic All-Round Performance! 🏏

It was great to welcome Horsford U13s to Brooke CC recently, as we looked back to our very first match of the season, all the way back in May! 👏

The Brooke U13s produced a fantastic all-round performance from start to finish in their Tier 2 fixture, securing a convincing 96-run victory. 🤩

Captain J Hayman won the toss and elected to bat first, and the team responded with some of their best batting performances of the season.

There were valuable contributions throughout the order including:

🏏 A Stubbs – 32 off 23 balls
🏏 S Toulson – 31 off 13 balls
🏏 L Carter-Thornton – 31
🏏 H Salmon – 28
🏏B Dannatt - 8

helping Brooke post an impressive 150/2.

With the ball, the team continued to apply pressure throughout the innings, restricting Horsford to 54/6 from their 16 overs. 🎯

🎯 Leon – 2 wickets + a run out
🎯 E Edgar – 2 wickets, with catches from Aubrey and Jack
🎯 T Smith – 1 wicket

It was a thoroughly enjoyable match, with everyone contributing to a superb team performance. Every player should be incredibly proud of their efforts. 👏
