This Sunday join us at 9:30am for a 10am start and paddle through our fine city for 5km and then head back into the cafe for a post paddle drink and a catch up.

Six years ago Norfolk Paddle Boards hired out our first boards to some nervous people for a paddle on the River Wensum.

This then grew into our Monday night social paddle where a few of us dragged boards down to the water on a Monday night. No plan, just a chance to get out on the water.

Six years later it’s canoes, kayaks, s’mores round the fire, and a whole group of people sweating it out in the sauna.

Same water. Same Mondays. Just a lot more of us now connecting, exploring and having fun!

A different way to see Norwich.

The river slows things down. A chance to swap busy streets for open water, discover corners of the city you never normally see, and spend a little time outdoors.

Paddle board hire is now available Tuesday to Saturday from The Lions’ Den River, whether you’re looking for a peaceful solo paddle or an adventure with friends.

New to paddle boarding? Beginner lessons are available too, giving you everything you need to get started on the water with confidence.

And every Monday at 6.30pm, we head out for our Social Paddle. A relaxed evening on the water with good company and no pressure, just paddling together.

What a weekend ☀️

Over 175 people joined us out on the River Wensum this weekend for paddle boarding, sunshine, coffee, conversations and a chance to slow down for a few hours.

Seeing so many families, friends and beginners out enjoying Norwich from the water was pretty special. From first timers finding their confidence on a board, to groups laughing their way down the river, it was one of those weekends that reminds us exactly why we do what we do.

A huge thank you to everyone who came down and spent time with us, and also to our amazing team who worked incredibly hard through the heat all weekend.

We are open throughout half term for paddle boarding, sauna sessions, coffee and food, so whether you’re looking for something active, somewhere to relax, or simply somewhere to spend quality time with people, we’d love to welcome you down.

Here’s to more sunshine, more river days and more moments of connection this half term

A proper spring day on the river in May.

We set off from Grantchester and made our way into Cambridge with the sun on our backs and that steady, easy rhythm you fall into on the water.

Paddling through the backs of Cambridge is something else. The energy shifts as soon as you arrive… punts gliding past, people stretched out in the sun, that gentle buzz on the water that somehow still feels calm. You’ve got these historic college buildings rising up around you, and the way the sunlight hits them… it just feels effortless. Like time slows down a bit.

This stretch of the River Cam has carried people for centuries. Traders, students, travellers… and now us, just enjoying a different kind of journey.

We pulled in halfway at for lunch by the water, then drifted our way down the cam to finish things off properly… with a Lions’ Den brownie in the sun.

Simple days. Good people.

We’ll be doing more of these.
