Floodlight funding thank you

Recent visitors to the club for Question of Sharks, and evening training (so most of the playing members) will have noticed our new floodlights are now fully working.
The team has worked long and hard to get these installed. The lights have been tested with a light meter, and are giving excellent readings.

Our huge thanks go to Sport England who provided an initial grant of £25K, plus they matched our Crowdfunding £4£ with £5,500. They did not stop there, as we were successful in raising £10,390 in 28 days, they also matched our additional crowdfunding too.

To top it off, Sport England covered the commission costs, so all the money raised gets spent on the lights not fees..

We could not have done this without them.

Thank you

One week to go, we are 3/4 of the way there. This week we cannot train on the 1st team pitch, it would be great to have the rest of the club pitches available for weekday winter training. Please dig deep and help as much as you can. Your club needs you.

We aspire to have floodlighting to all three playing areas to allow access to all to have the opportunity to play and train throughout the year during the evening periods. This will be supporting sport, health and well-being in the community.

We have applied for and been successful in a Sport England grant of £25000 to upgrade and install additional floodlighting to the first and second team pitches and a training area. The total cost of the project is £48,000.

Sport England have selected our project for a further match funding of £5500 if we can raise the same or more on Crowdfunding.

Our aim is to have sporting activity throughout the year for all players of any age to have access to the clubs grassed pitches.

Winnington Park Rugby Football Club has been in existence since 1907 and continues to develop within the community. We have teams from under 6 to under 18's. Two girl’s teams, Three senior men's teams, a ladies’ team, touch rugby team and all age walking rugby sections. We have embraced diversifying the club to support the community and also have other sporting and community clubs using our facilities including hockey teams, a cycling club, brownies, guides and a vintage motorcycle club.

This is a once in a lifetime financial gift if we can match fund the additional money to support this worthwhile project and a legacy for many aspiring sporting individuals in our local community for years to come. It will develop the club into the future and hopefully inspire others to continue to play for our club or at a higher level as did former England and the Lions scrum half Dewi Morris a previous Winnington Player.
