The Vickies travelled away to face a strong Runcorn, the league leaders who had played 8 and won 8 so far.

The squad was depleted and had the bare 11 players, with Ruby and Grace B carrying knocks ahead of kick-off but determined to turn-out for their teammates.

Runcorn started strongly and the Vickies gave away a needless handball to concede a penalty and goal. Faye made some good saves to deny Runcorn, but we were undone again as Runcorn scored on the rebound after another strong save from Faye.

The league leaders were soon 3-0 up against the battling Vickies, before Layla pulled a goal back after some strong running from the battling Macie to create the chance.

The Vickies were still in the fight and their Terrier like spirit demonstrated by the usual tenacity displayed by Frances and Mia.

Runcorn started the second half strongly and created several chances, being denied by the excellent Faye in goal. More of Runcornโ€™s attacks came down the left and Charlotte defended strongly.

Runcorn were soon leading 4-1 after Vickies conceded an Own Goal. However, the Vickies replied from Kick-off with Sienna showing her creative nous by playing Layla in to make it 4-2, a great finish.

Grace B sustained and injury which would have normally required a substitution; however, she remained on to try and help her team.

The Vickies continued to counter and were rewarded with a goal when Ruby tucked the ball into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.

With only a few minutes remaining the Vickies switched to a back 3 and went for an equaliser, but time was called before we could get another opportunity.

A brave and battling performance that all 11 players can be proud of.

The U15 Vickies were left frustrated at the weekend, losing 1-0 at home to Frodsham in a match they really should have won.

In cold and wet conditions it was the Vickies who had more possession and created the better chances, including hitting the bar twice in the first half.

With 5 minutes to go, Faye could only parry a Frodsham shot into the path of their striker who calmly finished to steal all 3 points.

Lots of positives to take away. The whole defence looked strong, and the midfield worked hard to get us up the pitch and create chances. It was just one of those days where we couldnโ€™t take any and the better team lost.

GOTG: Mia, for an intelligent and battling defensive midfield display, providing cover for the defence and support for the attack. ๐Ÿ†

The U15 Vickies played their first match since November yesterday due to games being called off due to bad weather and pitch conditions! It ended 2-2 against Frodsham, which on reflection was a fair result as both teams dominated for periods and had several chances.

The first half was all Northwich, as we took the lead with a neat header from Jamie after Frodsham failed to clear a corner. Jamie had two one on ones after clever balls over the defence from the Vickies midfielders, forcing the keeper to make smart saves on both occasions.

For the most, the Vickies defence held firm, marshalled by an impressive Sophie, but the one time we failed to intercept a through ball led to the equaliser with a smart finish over Faye. 1-1 at halftime.

Frodsham started the better in the second half and we were under pressure from the start. A Menna handball gave the home side a free kick just outside the box, which the Frodsham player smashed home, giving Faye no chance.

The Vickies kept battling and were rewarded when Jamie was fouled in the box, breaking her collarbone in the process! Up stepped Esmie to level the game at 2-2. Vickies had chances to win with Sienna, who was a constant threat, forcing a smart save from the keeper and Layla shooting wide from distance.

It was great to see Isla back and putting in a solid performance after a long absence through injury and we wish Jamie a speedy recovery! We entertain Frodsham in the reverse fixture at home next weekend.

Defeat again for the U15 Vickies on Saturday, but they can count themselves unlucky as it finished 2-1 against Weaver Panthers.

The Vickies were comfortable throughout the first half, with Grace and Sophie keeping things tight at the back and the bravery of the opposition goalkeeper stopping Jamie on a few occasions.

The opening goal came against the run of play as a speculative shot was deflected to the Panthers striker who forced it into the Vickies goal. Apart from a great save from a long range effort, Goalkeeper Faye had little else to do.

Vickies continued to press in the second half, confident they could get back in the game. Lexi in particular was driving us forward with energetic runs from the midfield and Sienna looked dangerous when she had time and space. We lost Fran to a broken hand and her replacement Faye showed good composure in her defensive duties.

The inevitable goal from Jamie came as she was put through one on one, despite the best efforts of the fearless Panthers keeper. Sensing a winner the Vickies kept pressing and when Amber blasted a short range effort over the bar, it just wasnโ€™t going to be our day.

This was confirmed when a Panthers corner late in the game flew over Faye with help from the wind, straight into the net. A disappointing result left us feeling we should have gotten more from the game.

It was defeat on the road for the under 15 Vickies as they lost 3-0 to Vauxhall Motors on Saturday.

The result wasnโ€™t a true reflection of the game, however, as the teams were evenly matched. The Vickies had the best chances of the first half with both Jamie and Sienna going close.

The three at the back formation was working well with Ruby having a particularly strong game, ably supported by Macy and Sophie. The one time they failed to get close to the opposition striker led to the opener. The second was a tame shot which slipped under Fayeโ€™s gloves on a wet surface. 2-0 down at halftime.

The Vickies continued to fight in the second half and had far more possession throughout, getting joy with their attacking wing play through Fran, Layla and Charlotte, plus Grace W, who had her best game in the green shirt.

It was however the opposition who scored again after a goal kick was intercepted and smashed into our goal. As ever, the Vickies heads didnโ€™t go down and they continued to battle as a team, led forward by the tenacious Mia and Lexi in midfield.

Desperately seeking a goal, Macey was thrown up front for the last 10 minutes and she created plenty of chances with her determination and power, but unfortunately we couldnโ€™t find the net and it finished 3-0.

It was a really good collective effort from the team, with everyone contributing evenly - so the Girl of the Game was split amongst them all.

Next up, Weaver Panthers. ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’š

After last weekโ€™s crushing defeat away at Sandbach, it was the reverse fixture at home this weekend and an opportunity to put in a better performance. The U15 girls certainly responded and played their best game in a while, narrowly getting beat 3-2 in a thrilling game.

The Vickies should have taken the lead with Jamie going close on a couple of occasions. It was however Sandbach that got the opener from a clever short corner and a thumping strike that goalkeeper Faye had no chance with.

The Vickies wing back system was working well with Fran and Charlotte working tirelessly down the wings. After forcing a corner, Jamie latched onto a neat through ball from Ruby to level the tie up. Goalkeeper Faye kept the score that way with a string of good saves.

Mia, who stepped up as Captain for kick off, was having a great game, but a lapse in concentration gifted the same Sandbach striker another shot which flew into the Vickies net and sent us in at halftime 2-1.

The Vickies continued to attack in the second half, but after a mix up between Esmie and Lexi, the Sandbach striker was again able to let fly with another unstoppable shot! A great hat trick. 3-1.

Sensing they were still in the game, the Vickies switched to 4 at the back and continued to press. They were rewarded when an Esmie corner was helped into their own net by the Sandbach goalkeeper. 3-2. Despite some late half chances, thatโ€™s how it remained.

A much improved game and good performances throughout the team.

The under 15 Vickies suffered two heavy defeats on the bounce in their recent fixtures.

Firstly, Runcorn Linnets visited the Grange Pavillion to face the Vickies in a high scoring match that finished 8-4. The teams were evenly matched, but the visitors capitalised on several needless mistakes to score some of their goals.

Highlights for the Vickies was a brace from Jaime who worked tirelessly upfront and finished neatly from two balls through the channels. As did Grace W who scored her first goal for the club since signing at the start of the season. Lexi scored a cracking header direct from a corner too!

Girl of the game alongside Jamie was Fran, who despite scoring an own goal, showed real skill and effort to help her team from full back.

Last week the Vickies travelled to Sandbach, and despite working hard and putting in a solid performance, were undone by the home sideโ€™s quality. Again, avoidable goals didnโ€™t help as the final score finished 7-0.

It was a game for gritty and strong performances, and Charlotte and Macey were awarded girl of the game for their attitude and determination.

Sandbach visit us at home this Saturday where weโ€™ll be looking to better that result.

It was defeat again for the U15 Vickies yesterday as we lost 4-2 at home to Holmes Chapel. Not the result our lovely new kit, kindly provided by Barnton Travel, deserved.

Still without our first choice goalkeeper, Amber kindly went in goal for the first half. She got unlucky with the opening goal as a speculative shot hit a bobble and slipped past her into the net. Holmes Chapel reacted quicker to another long range shot that bounced off Amber to make it 2-0. A third followed with a smart shot from a tight angle.

Despite the scorline the Vickies heads stayed up and they continued to battle. Mia was tenacious in thwarting the opposition attacks and Menna worked tirelessly for the team. Macey continued her good start to the season with another solid performance in defence alongside the always dependable Fran.

Jamie volunteered to go in goal for the second half and Holmes Chapels fourth came against the run of play when we failed to clear a corner. With Jamie in goal, up stepped Layla to lead the attacking line and she was superb. She ran onto a great through ball and surprised their keeper with an accurate shot from distance to make it 4-1. Her second was a perfectly placed volley that flew into the goal. A screamer! The final whistle ended a spirited comeback.
