💙 FINAL PLACE AVAILABLE – ONLINE DEMENTIA SUPPORT COURSE

We now have just one place remaining on our 5-week online course for people supporting a loved one living with dementia, starting Wednesday 30 September.

This isn't a webinar or a large information session. The group is deliberately limited to just five people to create a comfortable, supportive space where everyone has time to talk, ask questions and explore their own experiences.

28 people at Dementia Club & Grub today! 💙

What a fantastic afternoon, and thank you to the 28 people who joined us today for good food, laughter, music, quizzes, bingo and, most importantly, great company.

Club & Grub is about creating a relaxed, welcoming place for people living with dementia and their families. There are no expectations and no formalities, just an opportunity to get out, enjoy yourself, meet others and feel part of a community.

I am also on hand to provide free specialist dementia advice and support.

A huge thank you to Peter Middleton, whose ability to entertain a room never fails us and, of course, to his lovely wife Pam, who does the important job of organising him! 😄

Thank you to Mike Dando for giving his time and sharing his skills by playing the piano for us. We were sad that our other incredible musician, Steve Fearn, couldn’t join us today.

And a very big thank you to Phil at The Overstone Arms Pub and Dining, who allows us to use the room completely free of charge and cooks proper, traditional homemade food at an incredibly affordable price, alongside unlimited tea and coffee. Keeping the afternoon affordable and accessible to families really matters to us, and we simply couldn't do it without that generosity.

Today was exactly what Club & Grub is meant to be: good food, laughter, friendship and dementia support, without dementia taking centre stage.

💙 Are you supporting someone you love who is living with dementia?

Our 5-week live online course gives you a small, supportive space to understand what is happening, ask questions and learn practical ways to adapt.

What an incredible night at The Overstone Arms Pub and Dining last night.

The band, Bent Back Tulips were amazing and very talented.

Philip Ferguson of The Overstone Arms has opened the only shop in Pytchley! The shop sells clothes and shoes as well as food!

Phil and his family do so much for the local community. They have strong values and really care about people and contribute to host Dementia Club and Grub, which is growing and the next is this Thursday 27th august, 12 to 3.

I'm working super long days this week. I've got a lot on, and I want to take some time for a holiday soon, so I could point to that as the reason. But looking back over my whole career, this is simply how I have always worked.

I love what I do. I want to help people live better lives, for as long as possible, in whatever way is still open to them, because nothing else compares to dementia.

Every family I sit with is losing something. The person living with dementia is losing pieces of themselves. The people who love them are grieving while their whole life changes, day by day. And too often, the support both of them need simply is not there.

That is heartbreaking, every time, without exception.

I still work far more than I should, regardless. Just now, I came across an interview with Fiona Phillips' husband, who put their experience into words better than most people manage. He said Fiona will likely never again taste a glass of wine, walk on a beach properly, go on holiday, or sit in a theatre.

Hearing that saddened me deeply, because it is not a rare story. It is the experience of so many people, regardless of who they are or where they come from. It reminded me exactly why I do this work, and how privileged I am to support people through the hardest time of their lives.

I often feel guilty choosing work over time with family and friends.

People tell me I'll regret it one day.

But I am enjoying life.

My work isn't simply a job; it's a calling.

That interview made me ask myself honestly whether I will regret this.

There is still so much work to do. Every day, people living with dementia and the families who love them need greater understanding and support.

If I can bring even one family a moment of peace today, it matters. But my goal is bigger than that—to build something that reaches far beyond me, so more families receive the support, understanding and compassion they deserve.

Following two successful courses, bookings are now open for the next Building & Sustaining Resilience When Supporting Someone Living with Dementia, starting Wednesday 30th September.

This isn't a traditional dementia education course. Yes, you'll gain specialist, evidence-based knowledge from a dementia specialist nurse with over 20 years' experience. But more importantly, you'll connect with others who truly understand what it's like to walk this path.

Free Dementia Advice Clinic – This Saturday
