Two days ago I did something quietly that I haven’t talked to many people about. It was something in the background, something non public facing, something that determines the next steps on my path. I needed to think about it long and hard. I needed peace and space to attend to it.
I started my own company.
This may not seem significant to you. It may seem slightly surprising ‘don’t you run a business already?’ Well yes, I do, but starting as a Ltd company is different.
I started Requilibrium Ltd for many reasons. I won’t go into them here. But at the coalface of the decision to do this, we’re the foundational values I’ve based the work on so far. These resonate through TBIS aswell and I wanted to share them with you because they make me, and the work I do, what they are:
Awareness
Balance
Resilience
Education
If one of the four is out of balance I only need shift my focus a little and things are back on track. Underpinning these four is my one, wholly significant value; my non negotiable: freedom. If I don’t feel free and if I’m not enabling others to feel the same in what I do, there’s a real issue.
These may not resonate with you p***e, but what about values in general? Do you know what yours are? Do you know why they’re there? Do they inform what you do and how you behave? And what’s your non negotiable?

The June 2026 ONS National Wellbeing Report has landed. The data is clear: UK health — physical and mental — is declining.

Which is ironic, given how so many are giving up alcohol, attending the gym more regularly, understanding what not to eat.

It’s not because people aren’t trying.
It’s because most of us were never taught to work with our nervous systems. And that’s where ALL the messaging in our bodies live - and get held long past the stressful moment, or trauma.

57 minutes more a day! Unpaid! On top of everything else. The June 2026 ons well-being report confirmed womens bodies have it right: we’re burning out!
The data doesn’t fully capture the mental load. The emotional labour. The invisible carrying.

I’ll be honest, I’d never heard of presenteeism until I started my Requilibrium research.

It made so much sense to me though. As an ex teacher, I know only too well the threat to reputation, respect & sometimes reward if you were one who took time out, admitted ‘defeat’ or were seen to be ‘weak’ in health, mind or stamina….It was a highly toxic response if you needed long term absence and I watched many a colleague struggle on through when they were approaching burnout, or worse, with very little sympathy from the system.
NB not their colleagues! The system itself demanded this type of dedication.

Working through illness makes us more ill. Pushing through stress increases stress. We don’t function better - we don’t even function the SAME - if we deny our body what it needs. We make things worse for ourselves, and we also create a gap in the system we’re a part of. Be that manufacturing, education, health, commerce or other. We are mammals, not machines.

The ONS just published its June 2026 National Wellbeing Report. Nearly 1 in 4 adults in the UK is experiencing high anxiety. Depression and anxiety rates have risen 25% in five years.
