HEART OF ENGLAND OPEN
Keira takes 2nd place!

Another fantastic performance and another step forward.

All the hard work, commitment and hours on the tatami are starting to come together. The techniques we’ve been drilling are beginning to show under pressure, and Keira continues to gain valuable competition experience every time she steps onto the mat.

We review. We develop. We improve. We come back stronger.

Keep putting the work in, Keira. This is just a glimpse of whats to come 💪🥋

GRADING WEEK – BEGINNERS JUDO COURSE 🔴

What an amazing achievement for everyone!

After weeks of hard work, commitment, learning and development, our Beginners Judo Course has reached Grading Week.

What started with stepping onto the tatami for the very first time has developed into a fantastic group of confident, determined and capable Judoka.

Throughout the course, everyone has learned the foundations of Judo—from Ukemi, Kuzushi and Tai Sabaki, through to Nage-waza, Ne-waza, Osaekomi-waza, transitions on our structured Beginners course

But Judo is about more than learning techniques.

It's about discipline, respect, resilience, confidence and supporting the people around you.

We've watched this group grow together, help each other and develop an excellent team spirit. The progress you've all made has been outstanding.

🔴 Now it's time to put everything you've learned into practice.

A huge congratulations to every single one of you on reaching this stage. You should all be incredibly proud of how far you've come.

It was a pleasure and an honour to grade you all.

A huge thank you to Imi Baricz – 4th Dan Judo, former Hungarian International & Olympic Team member, IJF Coach and BJA Level 2 Coach – for leading the course and sharing his knowledge and experience.

Amazing work everyone. You've earned your place on that tatami.

And finally a huge congratulations and thank you to our 6th Kyu grades Amy, Dean and Logan who repeated the course as a refresher course.
Well done team!

🥋 ANOTHER GREAT NIGHT ON THE TATAMI

A busy night at Northampton Judo Club, with development happening across the mats.

👊 KIDS CLASS — LED BY KEIRA

Tonight, Keira took the lead with the juniors, breaking down O-Goshi (Major Hip Throw) step by step.

From the fundamentals of: • Kuzushi
• Entry & foot positioning
• Hip placement
• Loading your partner
• Completing the throw safely
• Following through with control

A great opportunity for Keira to develop not only her own Judo, but her coaching skills and confidence by passing her knowledge on to the next generation.

🥋 SENIOR SESSION — SEONGAI

We split the senior class across two mats:

🔴 WHITE → ORANGE BELTS
Fundamentals, movement, kuzushi, entries, throws and Tachi-Waza → Newaza transitions.

🟢 GREEN → BLACK BELTS
Taking those same principles further with more advanced combinations, counters, transitions and applied techniques.

Same Judo. Different levels. One goal — to get better.

The fundamentals never change.

It’s about understanding them, refining them and eventually being able to apply them under pressure.

Technique over strength.
Timing over force.
Knowledge through practice.

Another night of learning, developing and helping each other become better than we were yesterday. 🥋

English Closed Championships

A tough day on the tatami for Keira, finishing with 2 wins and 2 losses, and adding a few more arms to her collection along the way!

But competition isn't just about the wins and losses.

It’s about stepping onto the tatami, testing yourself against someone who wants exactly the same thing, and having the courage to learn from every exchange.

Today gives us more knowledge, more experience and more things to work on.

We review.
We develop.
We adapt.
And we come back stronger.

The result is only a snapshot. The development is the journey.

Keira is an amazing talent with so much potential. Keep turning every experience into progress.

Back to the dojo.
Back to work.

A New Level of Expertise on Our Tatami

We’re incredibly proud to announce that Northampton Judo Club now has an IJF Coach on our tatami.

Congratulations to Imi Baricz on successfully completing the IJF Technical Course for Coaches.

This is a fantastic achievement and another step forward for the club. Having IJF-level coaching expertise within our club gives our members access to high-level technical knowledge while continuing to develop the strong fundamentals and values that underpin our Judo.

🇬🇧 Northampton Judo Club
🥋 Tradition. Development. Excellence.

Our club. Our tatami. Our Judo.
