Mears Ashby 1’s vs Rushton 1’s
After winning the toss Ashby decided to bat against one of their bogey sides. However a solid batting performance from the visitors saw them post 263 all out. Jabran “ Brightening up” Mehmood top scoring with 57. The next top score was extras with 56, in fact there was more extras on show than a Bollywood movie.
In reply Rushton but up less resistance than pushing jelly threw a letterbox. They were bowled out for less than they conceded in extras…..55. The wickets coming from the Muhammad “The Heat” Saram with a brutal fiver, Alex “ The Assasin” Skerret (3), Kamran “Conan”Muhammad (1) & Aman “Elvis” Iqbal (1).
The result was Ashbys biggest of the season and sees them in good form as they enter their final match week, where they play the champions of Division 6 North Crawley. Ashby know that only a win will do if they are to secure back to back promotions. So we welcome all supporters and members if you can, to make your way down to the ground to show your support, get your Pom Pom outs and bring out the I love Rajbeer signs. We really need a 12th man as Billy Druce & Alex Skerrett have promised to slt drop their way off the field should Ashby secure promotion.
Match Report
Mears Ashby 2’s vs Pytchley 1’s.
After winning the toss Ashby decided to have a bat first.
The hosts got off to a great start courtesy of a solid opening partnership between Raj “Mahal” Shah (31) and Imran “ The fourth best” Bhatti (35). However a famous Ashby collapsed left them 128-7. Enter Bilal “The Wall” Ayoob, with a match turning 57. His knock ensured Ashby had a competitive total. The hosts eventually being bowled out for 192.
In reply Ashby bowled out the visitors for 60. The pick of the bowlers was Emaan “ Beats the” Bhatti. With a brilliant display of swing bowling. Some might say he has more swing than the local do***ng park. Emaan finished with 6-23 off 10 overs. Needing a final wicket off his final ball to become the leagues leading wicket taker courtesy of a fine catch by Timothy Shea. It lead to wild celebrations at Ashby with brother Usman busting out the robot in bizarre scenes, yes I know you are now imagining it. Emaan also bathed himself in Mears Ashby folklore, by taking the most ever wickets in one season for a second team bowler (37) , beating the 5 year standing record held by Stuart “50 shades of plant based beef” Gray.
Emaan was well supported by the Ashby bowling attack with every other bowler taking one wicket a piece those coming from Usman “The Number one Bhatti”, Hadi “ known Ashby was this great he would of joined earlier” Qureshi, Jishnu “The Beast” Jayan & Imran “ Out of luck so triggered Druve Patel” Bhatti.
It meant the hosts won their last game of the season by 132 runs and go into Division 11 with some great momentum.
Well Done to all involved in the twos and we hope to see some of you there this Saturday to support the ones!!
If anyone knows any midwives please feel free to bring them along to give the first team an extra push……
