We had a very thought provoking corporate workshop today on Smoking and Va**ng. My intention was to bring insights not judgement or lectures.
It was interactive and conversational because I wanted it to be a discussion about habits and behaviour.

I had the absolute pleasure of warming up the participants for Pretty Muddy and Race For Life this weekend at Abington Park Northampton.

It’s an event that brings people together for Cancer Research UK to either remember a loved one, help fight a personal battle, support someone they know or celebrate beating cancer. đŸ’ȘđŸŒ

There’s always laughter, fun and a few tears and I believe Northampton raised over £145,000 this weekend! Incredible 💰

Well done to runners, walkers, staff, volunteers and the supporters! A truly wonderful event.

Yesterday I delivered a workplace wellbeing session on perimenopause and menopause.

We talked openly about what perimenopause actually feels like day to day, the brain fog, the sleep disruption, the mood shifts and health risk factors associated to this stage of life.

My intention was to educate everyone (men included) on what’s happening in a womans mind and body, and how to work with it instead of silently pushing through.

We discussed what it means to support a partner or colleague going through perimenopause, because it doesn’t just affect the person experiencing it. It affects couples, families, working relationships and how supported someone feels showing up to work.

14 men a day. Every day. 💙

I recently delivered a Men’s Mental Health workshop as part of an ongoing workplace wellbeing programme and opened with that number.

I let it sit momentarily

I didn’t soften it or rush past it because men deserve honesty, not politeness.

What followed was one of the most powerful sessions I’ve ever delivered. A room full of men who had never been given this kind of space at work before started talking.

About the pressure they carry silently, the masks they wear and the gap between who they were taught to be and who the world now expects them to be.

We talked about identity and the blueprint men inherit - provider, protector, strong, silent and what happens when that blueprint no longer fits but nothing has replaced it.

We talked about what it actually takes to say the words “I’m not okay and I could do with someone to talk to”

Sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is simply give someone the words.

June is Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month. But one month isn’t enough for a crisis this size.

Men aren’t struggling because they’re weak. They’re struggling because they were never given permission to speak.

Let’s change that.
