Nationwide FC

Nationwide FC are a 7-a-side mens football team who play on Thursday nights at Weston Favell School in Northampton in a league run by Powerplay. Nationwide FC began life in late 2002 as B&Q Warehouse playing in the Roade Premier League on Thursday nights at Roade School in a league run by Goalside Soccer. The team was renamed Nationwide FC during 2003 after manager Mark Stephenson left B&Q to work at Nationwide Building Society. When Goalside Soccer left Roade School and moved to Deanshanger, it was decided to relocate the team to a more central and convenient location. The team joined up with Inter Soccer at their league in Kingsthorpe in Northampton in 2005 and remained in this league until Inter Soccer moved the league from Kingsthorpe to the new 3G astroturf at Weston Favell Academy in 2007. Initially playing on Monday nights, then playing for several years on Tuesday nights, the team moved to Thursday nights in August 2015. The team have won several trophies during their time including league and cup wins. Initially playing in Red and then Gold, the team have played in Blue since 2005. The team is managed by Mark Stephenson. Some notable former players from cup winning teams are Sandy Gibson, Jon Byrne, Andrew Green, Paul Nightingale & James Witkiss.
