We have something very special we would like to share with you ahead of this year’s Chamber Games.
As many of you know, in January we sadly lost a very special member of our gym, Ashima Chandel.
Ashima was so much more than a member of our community. She was a huge part of what made our gym feel like the place it is. Her energy, her humour, her personality and the way she made people smile left a mark on so many of us. She had a way of bringing people together, lifting the mood and making those around her feel welcome.
She was loved by so, so many, and her absence has been deeply felt.
We have spent a lot of time thinking about how we can remember Ashima and celebrate the incredible person she was. We wanted to create something that felt true to her — something that would keep her spirit alive within the community she loved.
So, from this year onwards, the Spirit of the Games Award at The Chamber Games will become the Ashima Chandel Award. An award that Ashima herself won in 2025.
The award will recognise the person who best embodies the qualities that Ashima brought to our gym: community spirit, encouragement, positivity, kindness and the ability to lift those around them.
Because ultimately, that is what Ashima was so good at.
She understood that the gym was never just about the workouts, the scores or the competition. It was about the people. It was about encouraging each other, celebrating each other’s wins, picking each other up on the harder days, laughing together and creating a community where everyone felt they belonged.
That is the legacy we want this award to carry.
We know Ashima would have loved seeing people come together, supporting one another and having fun — and we hope that every year, when the Ashima Chandel Award is presented, we will be reminded of the incredible impact one person can have on a community.
Ashima, you are deeply missed, but you will always be a part of this gym and a part of our community.
This award is for you. ❤️
