As I was heading out for my run, the old farmer who looks after the sheep next door got chatting to me and told me "Good luck, you look very fit in any case"

On the one hand it's great news since, let's be real, that’s what I train for! But it also made me stop and realise I am actually not very fit 😂

I’ve just got back in from a planned 6K. I tripped up at 1.5K and sliced my arm, my calf cramped out at 4K and I mooched the rest of the way back 🤘🏻

Point is don't take being lean as the definition of fitness!

Time to put some [a lot of] work in I think!

This is my current fitness test. I’ve not got distance in the locker at the moment, plus I often hate it. So I’m grinding my time down on this 😂

It’s a ~1300m shuttle down our lane. 650 out 650 back. More often than not I’ll just do one balls out effort, sometimes 2-4 slower mixed in with some metabolic weighted stuff. The single efforts are “fun” to do additional to my morning workout, and they seem to be torching my metabolism. Will report back! 🤘🏻

This is PAUL. Paul has just smashed his first 10kg weight loss so I headed up to Northampton to bang a session in with him, eat some burritos and just generally catch up!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻

Paul's been absolutely killing it, monitoring his nutrition closely without obsessing, enjoying regular Dairy Milks, living life and getting his shred on! and his strength has jumped up very nicely in the last 4 months too.

WHAT SHOULD YOUR REST DAY LOOK LIKE??

Erm, a lot depends on your goals and whether you are training maximally or not, but the aim of a rest day is to allow the metabolic processes you are trying to stimulate to work, and also to get your body ready to train hard again 📈

SO, with that in mind here would be 5 pointers I would make:
1️⃣ Do some mobility and regen work. Training can make you feel right and tired. Stretch, yoga, massage, flow etc are all great!
2️⃣ Walk. Walking stimulates low intensity blood flow helping flood in good nutrients and flush out metabolic waste products
3️⃣ Stick to your nutrition. Whatever style of nutrition you follow, getting good food in and not annihilating your food, calorie or macro plan means rest day doesn't f**k it all up
4️⃣ Rest. Just chill, do less. Maybe take a nap and watch South Park
5️⃣ Have a beer / drink! Enjoy the switch off, get yourself ready to go for the next round!

What are your END training goals?! 📈🎯

For years I've enjoyed working towards this concept of 'Maximum Muscular Potential' - this is a working theory not solid science but it might help you sort out an end goal!

HEIGHT IN CM minus 100 is proposed to be a rough estimate of the most muscle you could genetically attain at STAGE READY body fat. For me that would be about 80kg at 4-5% body fat. I currently weight 82kg, at about 12-14% body fat. Let's say 14%, I've enjoyed too much Jack Daniels recently 👀

So at 14% body fat I have 11.5kg of fat. To get to 5% I'd need to lose roughly two thirds - 8kg 🤯. At that bodyfat I'd weigh 74kg currently so IN THEORY it may be possible for me to gain another 5-6kg of muscle if my training and diet was bang on! So there's my end goal to chase!
