"Calm down!"—we've all said it, usually when feeling anything but calm ourselves.
Mamas, I know the struggle of wanting to respond patiently when your emotions are boiling over.
There was a time I felt like a hypocrite saying those words. I’d tell my child to stay calm, but inside, I was in full meltdown mode.
One day, during a particularly chaotic morning, I tried something different. Instead of snapping, I took a deep breath and said, “I feel really frustrated right now. Let’s both take a moment.”
My little one watched me closely, then mimicked my breathing. It wasn’t perfect, but it was a start.
In that moment, I realised this: emotional regulation isn’t about being perfect; it’s about trying, modelling, and giving yourself grace. 💕
Your kids are watching how you handle big feelings. The more we practice together, the more resilient we all become.
Let’s start small—deep breaths, open conversations, and a safe space for emotions.
