🥾 Camino Portuguese Complete ✔️

Day 13 ✔️Drum roll please... we did it!!

Yesterday we completed the Camino, walking into Santiago de Compostela. At 27.5km, it was our longest day, and the final 10km were especially challenging. It was very hot and at times I found myself counting steps just to keep moving.

Over the past 13 days, we've crossed beautiful countryside, coastal paths, forests, towns, and villages. Along the way, we've met lovely people and shared stories, laughs, and sore feet.

I'm incredibly proud of both me and my brother Mike for completing it. There were lots of tough character building moments. 😬

Yesterday we collected our certificates and can now officially say we've completed the Camino.

A huge achievement and an experience I'll always be grateful we shared. Wouldn't have missed it for the world.

🚶‍♀️ Camino Portuguese - Day 12 ☀️

Today we arrived in Padrón after walking 19.2 km, leaving us with just one more day before reaching Santiago de Compostela.

It was a good day on the trail, although the afternoon heat certainly made itself known. There were long stretches with very little shade, and walking under the hot sun was quite tiring at times. Days like this remind you that the Camino can be as much a mental challenge as a physical one.

Along the way we passed this beautiful traditional Galician hórreo, one of the raised stone granaries that are such a familiar sight in this part of Spain. Standing quietly beneath a cloudless blue sky, it felt like a reminder of the rich history and rural traditions that make the Camino so much more than just a walk from one place to another.

Despite the heat, there were plenty of beautiful moments and that wonderful feeling of moving steadily closer to the finish. It's hard to believe that after all the miles, conversations, blisters, laughter and unforgettable sights, we're now just one day's walk from Santiago.

For now, it's time to rest, rehydrate and enjoy the evening in Padrón.

✅ Day 11 complete. 25.5 km done today and only 43 km left to Santiago. It’s starting to feel very real now! 🥾

Today we walked from Pontevedra to Caldas de Reis, covering 25.5 km in total.

We decided to take a detour through the beautiful Ría Barosa Natural Park and it was worth every extra step. The waterfalls were stunning, the woodland paths provided some welcome shade, and it was one of those places that makes you stop and appreciate where you are.

The day started with a pleasantly cool temperature, perfect for walking, but by around 2pm the heat had really kicked in. The extra miles definitely felt harder by then, and we paid for our scenic detour in the afternoon sun!

We also had a slightly unexpected wildlife encounter when a snake scuttled across the path in front of me. Thankfully it wasn’t interested in us and disappeared as quickly as it appeared.

Another memorable day on the Camino with beautiful scenery, a few challenges, and one step closer to Santiago. 😊

Day 11 ✔️
Distance today: 25.5 km ✔️
Distance remaining: 43 km ✔️
Feet still functioning… just about! 😄
