Yoga isn't simply about what happens ON the mat. My aim is to share Yogas Tools & Techniques so that you can live a more fulfilled life OFF the mat too. The first LIMB of YOGA are the YAMAS & NIYAMAS. AHIMSA = "Non-Violence, Non-Harming". On the mat this can be as simple as tuning in to what your body needs that day & letting go of forcing & efforting. It can also mean being aware of unkind, unsupportive thoughts you have about yourself. We have been focusing on the concept of AHIMSA this past 2 weeks. This week i invited students to ask themselves "How can I apply the concept of Ahimsa to my practise today? What does being kind to myself look like today? What does the idea of "Non Harming" look like in today's class?". Whether its setting the intention to be CURIOUS & let go of expectations . . . Or to soften into a pose & surrender effort.
We ended the class by asking ourselves how we could then take this idea out into our day; This can show up in the choices & decisions we make. Whether its using less toxic products (so that we are practising AHIMSA towards the planet) or extending kindness towards strangers.
How Can You apply these concepts into your daily life ? So that every day is an extension of your practice.. ?!
