If all we teach kids is how to kick and punch, we’re missing the point.

Every week at Tempest, we deliberately stop the class to teach something that goes far beyond striking.

Integrity.
Confidence.
Discipline.
Respect.
Leadership.
Honesty.

This week, we talked about being honest… not just with other people, but with yourself.

Because there will never be anyone better at being you than you.

These aren’t random little talks we squeeze into a class.

These are the moments that shape how they think, how they act, and ultimately, who they become.

This is what real life skills look like on the mat.

We’re not just building better martial artists.

We’re building better humans.

One week in… and Leon is already making an impact!

Huge congratulations to Leon on completing his first week teaching at Tempest.

This is the start of a really exciting journey for him as he develops his coaching skills and works towards becoming one of our future instructors.

And honestly… the potential is massive.

He’s 18 very soon, incredibly athletic, naturally charismatic, his banter is already on point 😂 and most importantly, the kids are absolutely loving him.

He has a brilliant ability to connect with them.
He understands how challenging school can be and genuinely wants to help bring out the best in every one of them.

He’s got that kinda bright spark you just can’t teach!

This week wasn’t just about martial arts…
Leon wanted to get to know the kids and let them to get to know him.

So naturally… he decided to play Two Truths and a Lie…

Let’s just say some of the stories were questionable at best 😂

But that’s Leon.

He brings energy.
He brings personality.
He brings a bit of chaos.

And I’m really excited to see where he can take this.

It’s the ability to keep going when things get hard.

On the mats.
At school.
When they’re frustrated.

We’re not just teaching kids to kick and punch.

We’re teaching them to try again 👊

Because one day, that little lesson on the mat might be exactly what they need off it 🌪️
