North Shields XV 33–26 Jarrovians XV
A narrow win, but another valuable step in the development of the North Shields side.
North Shields came away with a hard-fought 33–26 victory over local neighbours Jarrovians in another valuable pre-season test.
Once again experimenting with players in key positions, Shields made a bright start and raced into a 19–0 lead. However, Jarrovians responded strongly, mounting an impressive fightback and ensuring the home side had to work hard for the result.
Despite the pressure, Shields showed good composure and adaptability to see out the game and secure a narrow seven-point victory.

“I’m very pleased with the overall performance against a physical Jarrovians side.
“We learnt a lot from the game. It challenged us in a completely different way to the week before, but that’s exactly what pre-season is about. I felt the lads adapted well and, ultimately, found a way to win.
“I saw improvements in our defensive physicality and our set pieces this week, which is really encouraging as we continue to build towards the season.
“Many thanks to Jarrovians for the game, and a huge thank you to all the supporters and volunteers who came along to support us.”
