“What lifts should you avoid as an older lifter?”
None.
The problem isn’t the exercise. It’s how you approach it.
Deadlifts aren’t dangerous.
Squats aren’t bad for your knees.
Overhead pressing won’t wreck your shoulders.
Poor technique, too much load, and rushing the process? That’s what causes issues.
Over 40, training isn’t about avoiding movements…it’s about earning them.
Learn good form, build gradually, respect recovery and train consistently.
Every lift can be safe.
Every lift can be effective.
If it’s appropriate for YOU, and you do it well, it belongs in your programme.
Avoid bad form. Not the movements. 💪
