One thing experience has taught me as a coach: the goal isnโt to execute every session perfectly.
The goal is to squeeze 95% out of it, learn from the remaining 5%, and walk away with a smile on your face.
Too many athletes finish a great session and immediately search for flaws. They analyse the pacing, the power, the nutrition, the missed opportunitiesโฆ and completely forget that they just spent an hour doing something they love.
Improvement matters, and reflection for sure matters, but if every workout ends in disappointment because it wasnโt perfect, youโve missed the point entirely.
In fact, this athlete was the perfect example. Sheโd written a thoughtful breakdown of everything she could have improved, yet almost forgot to mention the most important part: โI enjoyed that a lot.โ
That one sentence told me more than the rest of the analysis combined.
