A pretty special day watching the Tour of Britain with my daughter ❀️

I’ve watched and raced bikes for most of my life, so getting to share days like this with her feels pretty cool.

Just the two of us, heading to the start, watching the race roll out and then sticking around for the Festival of Cycling afterwards.

Fair play to British Cycling and everyone involved in putting that on too. There was loads of free stuff for the kids to have a go at and she absolutely loved it.

Although, in fairness, I think I enjoyed some of it just as much as she did πŸ˜‚ I got roped into having a go at a few things myself, while she took great pleasure in standing behind the camera documenting my efforts and providing some fairly brutal commentary.

Then we headed back home to Beverley to watch the finish, and seeing how excited she was to have this massive bike race finishing in our own town was probably my favourite bit of the day.

I’m not sure she’ll remember who won, or probably even care πŸ˜‚, but hopefully she’ll remember that we had a really good day together. I know I will.

One-on-one time gets harder to find as life gets busier, which probably made today mean that little bit more. Bikes have given me a lot over the years, but days like today might be some of the best bits. ❀️🚲
