🏏 The All Connected Plumbing North Cave Coal Exporters go again tomorrow but Social Media Admin is out of action getting married, so this is it for now.

Captain Kingo and vice-captain Barky are navigating delays in Doha, so it's Fozzy in charge tomorrow as the 1st XI travel over to Drax Cricket Club 1st XI. Let's hope this dry weather creates a batter paradise.

What a brilliant day! This morning we hosted our friends from Cottingham Cricket Club Beverley Town Cricket Club Driffield Town Cricket Club Londesborough Cricket Club Goole Town Cricket Club Hull Zingari Cricket Club Welton and Brough Sports Club Bridlington Cricket club Eastrington Sports & Cricket Club Gilberdyke Cricket Club Walkington Cricket Club for the latest under 9s cricket festival event. Thank you to all the mums, dad's, aunties, uncles and grandparents who brought their kids down to the playing fields this morning. Most of all special thanks to our brilliant volunteers, who make days like these happen - we hope everyone had fun!

Finally a huge thank you to WOLDS Engineering Services LTD - who generously donated the breadcakes for those all important butties...

The 1st XI have just gotten underway against Dunnington Cricket Club 1st XI at North Cave, hurry up and get down to watch some Dunnington fireworks as they bat first....

🏏 Much like the 2nd XI on Saturday, it's taken a while to get this post done and over the line this week but worth it in the end for the All Connected Plumbing North Cave Coal Exporters.

For our 1st XI at home Captain Kingo was back in the XI, won the toss and elected to bat against league leaders Osbaldwick. Milan Pandya got the innings off to a good start and capitalised on anything short and wide. However, our momentum was thwarted once Milan departed for 43 and it was down to Ted Burrell to anchor the innings. James Rounding provided a bit of impetus, the Coalies scrambling up to 160 all out.
With ball in hand it was either wickets or boundaries early on and not a lot in between. The Coalies were cock-a-hoop at 34-3 and James Rounding taking 2 wickets in 2 balls. Once again we witnessed a rebuild like we've seen often before from opposition at this level. A missed run out opportunity in the middle overs proved pivotal as Osbaldwick got closer to the line. A couple of late wickets gave us hope of picking up our 4th points of the season but it wasn't to be.

At the Hill Top Club our 2nd XI were bowling against Cottingham and things didn't start well, the Cottingham openers putting on 138 runs. The Coalies stuck to their task, working hard and kept chipping away, limiting the final 6 batters to just 11 runs between them. 250/9 was Cottingham’s return from their 45 overs.
251 runs the target for victory for the Coalies and things got off to a slow start. 28-2 after 12 overs wasn't the rate we were really after. Sam Young played a steady knock supporting Aabid Bashir in the middle. Once Sam departed, the 2 of them had got the score to 132-4 after 31 overs. So a hearty 8.5 an over needed from there. Aabid went to his 50 a couple of overs later with a 6 and he kept sending the ball to all parts. He brought up his maiden Coalies century in just 82 balls, his 2nd 50 coming up in 31 balls. There was no time to rest on his laurels and ably supported by James Smith they took the game deep. 54 needed from the final 5 overs, they went 18, 8, 12 and 10. Aabid smashing the winning 6 needed in the final over for a dramatic victory and a win for the Coalies history books.

🏏 Double defeat for the All Connected Plumbing North Cave Coal Exporters at the weekend.

After winning the toss at Selby and choosing to bat, things didn't start well for skipper James Barker, falling for a duck in the first over. Runs were at a premium with some tight bowling and the middle-order tried their best to eat up some overs in hopes of recovery, however it was another tough day for the Coalies as we were bowled all out for 68.
With a small total to chase, Selby didn't waste any time, chasing down the required target for the loss of just one wicket.

Our 2nd XI back at home, also won the toss and elected to bat. Much like the 1sts, things didn't get off to a great start as we fell to 30-4. However Aabid Bashir and Simon Cowling came together with a nice 4th wicket partnership of 75 to take us past 100. Aabid batted nicely throughout putting the bad ball away when it came as he hit 56 of his total 70 runs in boundaries. The Coalies finally dismissed for 140, a score that has been a winner before.
In the first match-up of the season between these two sides, Middleton & North Dalton failed to chase down 122, so the Coalies were full of optimism. Andy Reeves bowled tight as usual, going for just 19 runs in 7 overs. Raj Roy came into the attack and took 2 wickets in his 3rd over to reduce the opposition to 58-2 and a 3rd wicket soon after had us right in the game. However, a 4th wicket stand of 77 took the game away from us and saw Middleton & North Dalton over the line with 7 wickets to spare.

🏏 Another bumper week of hot weather, this isn't what the British summer and cricket is all about. Slightly cooler temperatures though today and both All Connected Plumbing North Cave Coal Exporters sides are in action.

The 1st XI make the short trip down the M62 to take on Selby Cricket Club 1st XI. The Coalies picked up their only points of the season so far in the first fixture, just 3 wickets from victory. Can we go one step further today with new signing Tom Dutton makes his Coalies debut?

🏏 Just the one game at the weekend and dare we say shoots of positivity for the All Connected Plumbing North Cave Coal Exporters 1st XI on Saturday?

After Clifton racked up the highest score ever conceded by a Coalies team in the first fixture, our lads pulled it right around by having Clifton Alliance become the first side dismissed by the Coalies this season. Liam Walker got the ball rolling in his 2nd over dismissing the Clifton opener to claim his 600th Coalies wicket. A good catch taken by Dinesh Sriram high off the bat in the swirling wind for that one. He was at it again next over to leave Clifton 16-2. Clifton rebuilt before Ethan Steel came to the party, Ted Burrell taking a nick behind and then Chris Rodgers diving in from deep square leg to pluck a skier inches from the turf and leave Clifton 88-4. The Coalies lost their way somewhat in the field with another rebuild under way. Liam Walker came back into the attack and found the breakthrough before James Rounding rounded up the tail with 3 wickets in 2 overs. Clifton all out for 224 from 45 overs.

The Coalies batting looked a tad light, missing a natural opener and so it proved to be. James Rounding and James Forrester were yorked by identical balls within the space of 4 balls before Jaison Mathew was run out. Dan Daley, with his first appearance of the season and James Morris, his 4th appearance but first with the 1st XI, can both be deadly with the bat, but with little to no time out in the middle this season meant it was a tough ask. Ted Burrell batted cautiously to try and hold down an end but after he went, then a barely mobile Liam Walker followed by Dinesh Sriram, the Coalies were 52-8 and staring down the barrel. It was time for party mode to be enabled though. Chris Rodgers driving through the covers for 4 like Ian Bell, before Ethan Steel took 3 fours in 5 balls. Henry Green was up next, carting the ball to all parts including a Glenn Maxwell-esque slog sweep, delighting the packed booze-fuelled terrace. The Coalies 9th and 10th wickets put on the most runs but the fun had to come to an end soon, the Coalies all out for 91.
