Lovely morning on the water today. The skies were blue, the water fairly calm, relatively windless. The cormorants have their summer hats on, the eider ducks are pairing up and the puffins are rafting up and contemplating the burrow refurbishing required before the females arrive. Oh and I even saw a jelly fish! I am hoping that this is spring truly sprung 🀞🌝

Greetings from NBKC. We really hope you've been able to get out on the water with us in our 2023- 2024 season, either through one of the weekend coached sessions, organised trips or through peer paddling organised on WhatsApp.

Our membership renewals are now due; it would be excellent if you considered renewing your membership. Membership allows you to take part in any of our club events and (once assessed) to hire a sea kayak from our fleet held in the harbour store. Perhaps more importantly, membership means you will be covered by the club’s insurance for club events, through our affiliation to Paddlesports Scotland.

What do you need to do to renew your membership?
- Log into https://webcollect.org.uk/nbkc/mysubs to check your membership status for 1 Oct 2024 – 30 Sept 2025 (there’s an option to request a password reset if you’ve forgotten!).
- Renew online, providing the details required so we can ensure you are included in our club members with Paddle Scotland.
- If unpaid, arrange to pay using bank transfer (details on our website).

During the winter months, there will be some sea kayaking arranged – either via Peer Paddles, and our volunteer committee will continue to try to arrange as many club events as possible, within the conditions!

Please check our website for further details including membership pricing: https://webcollect.org.uk/nbkc

Wow! Our members are really making the most of the good weather when we can get it.......

Members have been organising Peer Paddles to explore the East Lothian coast recently, and practice rescue skills as a peer group.

Our September Skills Sessions are proving popular with only one space remaining on 14th September!

We are happy to answer any questions you have about the club, just get in touch via messenger or by email.

Thanks to our members for some awesome photos 🀩

Our club members are taking advantage of the longer summer evenings & enjoying some 'peer paddles'. These are organised through our members Whatsapp group. Members who have been previously assessed by our coaches can hire the club kayaks to join in.

Find out more on our website; https://webcollect.org.uk/nbkc

[Peer Paddles; these outings have no coach or leader, and each paddler is responsible for their personal safety. Paddlers have sufficient skills and experience to cope with the existing and forecast conditions on the day.]

Weekend Double header!

We've just added another event to our website for Sunday 7th July. Lesley will be running canoe coaching at Musselburgh Lagoons. This event is suitable for juniors as well as adults, and as Musselburgh Lagoons offers an enclosed water body, it's perfect for first timers or those who may be nervous on the sea.

More information on our website; https://webcollect.org.uk/nbkc/event/musselburgh-lagoons-canoe-coaching-1

As this is a Free Try it Out session, please feel free to forward to friends and family who may be interested.

πŸ‘€ Our BRAND NEW lifeboat has arrived. D-891 is now operational and will be named at a ceremony on Saturday (6 July).

We're inviting the public to come and see her after her naming ceremony on Sunday (7 July) at our Open Day from 11am-4pm on Anchor Green, just over from the boathouse.

There'll also be live music, fundraising games, home baking, second hand books, water safety advice and much, much more.

We hope to see you there!
