On Saturday our U11’s braved the rainy conditions and hosted Wisbech St Mary Girls U11’s at Stowbridge. The girls had players missing but everyone of them still put in a fantastic display, showed great attitude and determination and got the goal they deserved late on with Emma’s fine finish into the bottom corner. Special mention for Edith and Emma who both had excellent performances and to goalkeepers Amelia and Amira for both having a go, neither of them have ever been in goal before 💪👏
Keep putting in the effort at training and the friendlies, the improvement will continue! 🤩⚽️

On Saturday our U11’s girls took to the field against KLSC at Lynnsport, it was great to see the girls play again. They all really enjoyed the game and left with smiles on faces and wanting to play more so really hoping we can find some more fixtures for them soon. All the girls were excellent and really played well, thanks to MNYL for organising it was a really enjoyable afternoon! 🤩💙🖤⚽️

Saturday the girls travelled out to Lincolnshire and take on South Lincs Swifts in the 1st round of the cup.
Few changes to the starting line up this week allowed players to make an impression in the game
To which I they started off very bright, working well together and it didn’t take long until they found the break to convert. The team didn’t ease at all and found themselves at 8-0 by half time.
Second half was pretty much the same, lots of changes in positions, great forward play and strong in defence. Lots of goalscorers in the game but very well done to Madyson and Imogen for getting their first goals for the team.
Pom went to Maggie this week. She has been working hard on the pitch when playing and her understanding is coming along really well for her at the moment. She had a great game Saturday so well done.
Ppom went to Imogen again another solid performance, works so hard in her game, always gives 100% and it’s really good to see when you received the ball and she wants to attack with it. Well done Imogen.

South Lincs Swift 1 Watlington fc girls 16.

On Saturday the girls hosted KLSC in their second League game of the season.
Lots of players this week and having 5 subs it gave us chance to swap things around when we needed to.
The game started off scrappy but creating plenty of chances infront of the oppositions goal but not being able to convert after some good saves from the Klsc goalkeeper.
The girls kept pressing forwards and constantly playing in the final 3rd and it wasn’t long until they broke through and started scoring some goals.
Some great attacking play, hard work from the midfield, leadership in the back 4 and some great goalkeeper work when she was needed. Goals came from Ruby 2, Alexi, Taylor, Taliyah and Elsie.
Pom went to Madyson, her full back game had come on leaps and bounds, she works really hard, organised and strong but always looks to be available when the team are in attacking possession but also works hard when out of possession.

First game of the season the girls hosted Isleham. The girls got off to a good start and settled quickly. Lots of forward positive play allowed the team to break first and find their flow.
A real good performance from an organised back four and great goalkeeping allowed the team to keep pressing most of the match to get their first 3 points of the season. Hattricks for Taylor,Evie and Elsie followed by her first league goal alexi.
Pom went to Keira she was quality in the game
With great off the ball movement and positive attacking football. Her game had massively improved over the last 2 months, she is playing really well.

So as the season has started the u13 girls have been working really hard through pre season. Training has been going really well and focusing on more technical play as they’ve stepped up into 11 a side football. 3 pre season friendlies for them to prepare for the season ahead with some good results but more importantly seeing them put their training into progress. A few new additions to add to the team this year who have all settled in nicely and looking great team players.

Watlington girls football are looking for a Goal keeper and adding a player to an established team for the new u13 season. School year 8 preferably for the new season. Great chance to get involved in girls football and to join a great friendly team.
