Meet the Sponsor:
Our thanks and appreciation go to Scott McWhinney from McWhinney’s Sausages, Bangor, for supporting this year’s Ards Half Marathon. Scott runs the family business which has been manufacturing pork sausages, a staple in every runners’ diet, since 1898! Scott is pictured here with Big Foot, a mascot for McWhinney’s 12” sausage.
Scott and his wife will taking to the hills themselves. Scott loves hills, which is fortunate as the Ards Half route has a couple of notable ones. Obtaining a target time of 1 hour 30 at Ards Half is only one of the many challenges that Scott has lined up for 2026. He is currently training for the “Chase the Sun” Belfast-Sligo cycling event, the T100 Triathlon in London, two half marathons (Ards and Belfast) and three Marathons (Medoc Wine Marathon, Lough Ness and Dublin). He’s also out to get a 10k PB at our very own Run the Runways in May.
Thanks again to Scott – we wish him every success in his forthcoming sporting endeavours – I’m exhausted even posting about them! We are reliably informed that Big Foot doubles as a costume – he would look good at one of those Marathons…just sayin’!

Meet the sponsors:
A big thank you to Paul Flynn at the Physio Clinic, 7 The Precinct, Newtownards for again sponsoring Ards Half Marathon 2026. It’s much appreciated!
Paul, who provides a much valued service to local runners, says “I am delighted to sponsor this great event. Scrabo Striders members have been very supportive of my business and it’s nice to be able to give something back. Unbelievably, and despite all the training I have done on this undulating route over the years, I have never actually participated in this race. I intend to rectify that in 2026 and I’ll see you at the start line on 26 June!”.

Paul is an experienced physiotherapist, specialising in spinal treatment. He is also a seasoned runner and is about to take on London Marathon.
We wish him the best of luck and legs for that - it’ll be a good training run for Ards Half 😜.
