UPDATE!

Tag rugby was just yesterday evening given the all-clear to go ahead.
What happens now is that we are in consultation with rugby clubs wishing to host.
All compulsory Health & Safety measures as well as processes and capacities required to proceed, will be explored.
This will be done on a case-by-case basis with each club. Hoping to have more news next week.

Remember, what lies ahead will be notably different to what preceded the outbreak of covid-19. There are many measures that will be requiring adherence.

IRFU Medical Director, Rod McLoughlin, “We must remember at all times that COVID-19 has not been eliminated from this island. It is critical that clubs continue to minimise risk and adhere to all public health measures in place.

Rugby will only return in a meaningful way if we adopt the right behaviours that will keep ourselves, our teammates and our club mates safe.”

UPDATE
------------
The status of for each of the Summer Tag Rugby leagues scheduled to start in May and June at various host rugby clubs around Ireland is currently being monitored on a case-by-case basis, as we approach each of their scheduled start dates.

Summer Leagues at the following clubs/venues have so far been affected:-

Belfast Harlequins RFC
Both Tuesday and Thursday Summer Leagues have been cancelled.

Energia Park, Donnybrook
Both Wednesday and Thursday Summer Leagues have been cancelled.

Other tag venues around Ireland, as stated earlier, will be monitored as we approach each of their start dates.

We do hope to be able to stage tag rugby events at any affected venues later in the Summer or early Autumn - should the opportunity to do so arise.
No other details can be confirmed at this juncture in time but we shall keep you informed here on this page.

Teams registered and fully paid-up for the above leagues have now been refunded the full registration fee. This fee is sent back to the card used originally to make initial payment. Please note that it may take 3-5 working days to show back in your account.

The health of our players remains paramount at all times.

Please be safe, and continue to keep helping to .

Thank You.

Hope everyone is keeping OK, we will get through this.

I want to thank every player and parent for making this a fantastic first year for Tag Rugby Club. This is not how I imagined the season would end!! My thoughts are with you and your families going through these troubled times and I hope you stay safe and cope with the drastic changes within our society. Social distancing is very unnatural but very necessary.

There will be no more Tag Rugby until Sept/Oct 2020. Please cancel your Standing Orders for the time being. For anyone who has paid for classes or 1-2-1 sessions that have not completed you can either get a refund or roll these over to when we re-start in Sept/Oct. PM me to organise.

Thanks again for all your support and I will reach out to you all in a few months time to take 2020/21 registrations.

I want to reiterate the message, Stay at Home, Wash your hands, Support our NHS!!

IMPORTANT UPDATE:

You may have heard yesterday of the IRFU decision to conclude the 2019/20 domestic rugby season with immediate effect.

Unfortunately, our efforts to help combat the spread of coronavirus must also impact our Volkswagen Tag Rugby season.
All registrations for Volkswagen Tag Rugby competitions have been suspended immediately, until further notice.

Tag Rugby Leagues in NUI Galway, Queen’s University Belfast and Swords RFC are all to cease activity forthwith.

Teams currently registered at these three venues will be contacted in due course regarding refunding of completed registration fees.

The status of additional leagues scheduled to start later in May and June will be monitored on a case-by-case basis, as we approach their scheduled start dates.

The safety of our players remains paramount at all times.

You are part of the Irish Rugby community, and we wish you, your teammates and families the very best during these trying times.

Be safe.

Thank You.
