🥎🔥 Match Result - Phoenix 🔥🥎

Just like the weather, this game started cool and really heated up.

🔥 Phoenix welcomed Belfast Sliders to their new ground today at Roughfort 🏠.

The home team started well with a defence that held the Sliders scoreless and an attack that would have them pick up a neat 2 runs.

Sliders responded in the 2nd inning with two of their own and held the home team scoreless.

The third inning was another boost for Phoenix with another two chalked up, fast feet from Kev making use of a 3 base hit from Oonagh and an RBI from Robert.

Into the fourth and only 1 run picked up by the visitors, strong defensive play both infield and outfield leaving the Sliders with fewer opportunities to earn points.

Into the 5th and 3 runs for the home team would take them to 7. Sliders not to be outdone took 2 for themselves including homerun from Casey.

The 6th inning saw 3 outs in a row for the home team, halting them on the score board at 7. Sliders pitcher Ciaran stepped up and helped Sliders edge ahead with a great home run taking them to 8.

With one point in it in what we thought was the final inning...

Solid batting from Phoenix saw them take three and sound defensive work meant the Sliders only secured 2... TIE GAME!!!

A first for many on the diamond today, this one went into an extra inning!
Each team starts with their last batter on 2nd base. Sliders manage to take 1 run in the inning before succumbing to their 3rd out.

Phoenix captain Alyson is the 2nd at bat and plays a stonking 3rd base hit and with an RBI, the game is tied once more with one out for the home team. Rookie Kieran is next up to bat and slots a beautiful speedy grounder into left field. This allows Phoenix to take the winning run of the game with the score now 12-11.

Phoenix would like to thank their club mates in Neptunes for all their support and the Sliders for making the trip up to Roughfort, it was an excellent game!

Our next game will see Phoenix go up against East Belfast's Cubs on Sunday.

🥎🔥 Match Result - Phoenix 🔥🥎

Typical June weather (wind/sun/rain) greeted the home team at Mallusk on Sunday afternoon.

Phoenix were ready to challenge the North Down Buccaneers for the very first time.

A defensive game plan from both teams to start, resulted in a 0-0 scoreline in the first inning. The Bucs quickly found the gaps in the 2nd inning scoring 4 runs. Phoenix were still looking to put points on the board but were shut down when the Bucs experience in fielding came into play.

Things started to heat up in the third as Phoenix found their groove with Robert hitting a super home run. Then came Robyn, James and Kev across home plate with thanks to some solid hitting from Fi, Oonagh and Micheal. By the end of the 3rd it was 9-4 to the away team.

Things slowed down in the 4th with 1 run conceded by both teams.
The fifth inning is where the home team took their biggest blow when the Bucs stormed in 5 runs. That was enough to widen the gap in the scores. For both teams an even 6th inning and a quiet 7th inning concluded the game with a 19-10 victory awarded to the team from North Down. Highlights for Phoenix included Robert’s spicy home run, Mel and Fi catching monster fly hits like it was nothing! And a cheeky double out achieved by Kev and Alyson. As always, Phoenix celebrate the moments of magic that show up in each game. The win may not have been realised on Sunday but Phoenix reset and reignite ready to take on their next opponents.

🌊🥎🔱Match Result - Neptunes. 🥎🔱🌊

The Neptunes travelled to ward park today to take on the Bangor Barracudas. It was strong performance from both teams and even stronger performances from both pitchers, trying to get the ball over the plate with strong side gusts and pouring rain.

The game was closed knit the whole way through all 7 innings with Bangor taking the game by one run in the end to finish 9-8 to the Cudas.

Alex crushed the pitching 🥎 today and was awarded the Top Trident 🔱 Award for her persistence through a deluge. Amazing job AK, amazing job Neptunes.

Congrats to the Cudas on a hard fought win. 🐟

The Phoenix 🔥 are playing at HOME and are taking on the Bangor Buccaneers. The Phoenix are looking to build on the learning from their last game as they continue their fantastic journey in SU Division A.

🌊 The Neptunes are AWAY this week, travelling to face the high-flying Barracudas. The spoils were shared last season between ‘Tunes and the ‘Cudas with each taking a W. This is sure to be an engrossing match-up with quality softball on display.

A double disappointment for Newtownabbey this weekend as both teams take the L against strong Belfast Teams. 🔥🥎🔱

🌊 The Neptunes faced East Belfast Wolfhounds in an away game. The weather held strong, however the Tunes defences did not. The Hounds seemed to find every inch of space on the field in an impressive display of batting from every one of the players. Newtownabbey did some excellent batting and running getting the bases filled on lots of occasions, but could not find the final bat to convert those loaded bases to runs over the plate.

A very eventful match on Sunday saw players from each side take injuries including Tunes 3rd Base Gareth and Hounds Seb. We wish them speedy recovery and hope to see them back on the field very soon. Co-Captain Barry opened up his 2026 Homerun account for the Neptunes with a powerful centrefield shot to make it round the bases. This and a few infield plays allowed him to take this week's Top Trident Award from last week's winner Kalvin.

Well played to the Wolfhounds, best of luck for the rest of the season, hopefully we will meet them on the return match.

🔥 The Phoenix had the pleasure of hosting Division A leaders, the Brawlers to their home turf.

A strong start from Phoenix saw them take the first out immediately, Brawlers responded with a cheeky 2 runs before another out but unfortunately for the home side an even cheekier 6 runs took the Brawlers to 8 before the next crucial out.

Phoenix simply weren't able to get their bats going and the Brawlers took advantage in shutting them down swiftly. Not to be outdone, Phoenix returned in the second inning with defences engaged and kept the Brawlers to 2 runs. Inning three saw the Brawlers move ahead a little more with another 9 added to their tally. Coming back with strong defence and offence in the 4th, Phoenix managed to secure 2 runs that would see the game head into a 5th inning.

Still undeterred the home side would only allow another 3 from the visitors taking the final score to 24-2.

A powerhouse performance from the team at the top of the SU league. Phoenix eagerly await their next opportunity for battle.

🌊🥎🔱What a day for Softball, what a match for The Neptunes. 🥎🔱🌊

The Tunes travelled south to Hydebank to take on The Belfast Angels 😇on their hallowed home turf for what was to be one of the best matches so far.

The first two innings were evenly matched with both teams getting a few runners over home plate, with Neptunes grasping the slightest of leads. Belfast then stepped up their game and shut the Newtownabbey team down for the next two innings whilst bringing in the scoring runners to take a 10-4 lead.

The Tunes are not the team to give up the fight. In the 5th they found a rhythm, and clawed their way back to a 3 run deficit. The sun shone and the beats flowed into the sixth inning, when Matty hit a whopper to centre field getting the only Neptunes home run of the game, and bringing in two base runners with him. He came to the sidelines to his whooping and hollering teammates for the ceremonial Trident HR photo, when the team realised their lucky Trident had not been placed. This was quickly remedied and the luck immediately changed (as well as some subs and a few amendments to the positions).

The sixth and seventh inning had the Neptunes offensive and defensive game at full tilt, allowing only 2 Angels runs in and an scoring excellent 10 runs to take the lead and finish the game 🥎 20-15 🥎 for their first ever Angels Away win.

A big shout-out to Oonagh and Fi for keeping the scores, Mel for the photos 📸and the rest of the Phoenix and other supporters that made the trip to see our match.

Great grit from RF Tori, who injured herself running bases but continued to step up to home plate to bat just so the team did not have to take the auto out. 🏃🏼‍♀️

Finally well done to Kalvin for winning this week's Top Trident 🔱 for his wicked skills on first base, his amazing catching and acrobatic skills took out many a runner.

Well done to The Neptunes for their 2nd win of the 2026 season.
