Well done to Obie, 17 months Ago Obie was stopped in the semi final of Welsh championships after a fantastic quarter final, stopping his opponent in the 3rd round. Obie did not leave it there , he returned to the ring as a senior boxing and stopped his next opponent in style in the 1st round. Well done mate great effort. Here we go Again

BOXING IS BACK IN NEWTOWN! 🥊

3 long years since May 2023. Finally, we can bring our fantastic community back together. The last show was a huge success with a superb sell-out crowd! The boxers put on special performances, the spectators and sponsors matched it. The staff in the Ele worked their socks off and the coaches and organisers got rewarded for their relentless efforts.

Our next home show is locked in for May 29th, and the squad is looking sharper than ever (LESS THAN 3 WEEKS)

We’ve brought National Championship medals and Elite Youth titles back to this gym, and now it’s time to showcase that talent right here at home. But to put on a show of this caliber, we need our community behind us!

The Veteran and The Prospect: Newtown ABC in Porthcawl 🥊🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

A great night for the club as we travelled to Porthcawl, seeing both ends of the Newtown spectrum in action: our Head Coach and oldest active boxer, Joe, and our youngest up-and-coming fighter, Elissia.

Elissia took on a highly-rated opponent in a 3x1 minute skills contest. Facing a young fighter who has been turning heads across South Wales, Elissia showed great courage and personality in a contest that showcased her skills against a formidable opponent. 🌟

Joe stepped back into the ring for his first fight in 12 months, following his victory over Dylan Hayward—who has since won his first two professional fights. Joe is currently transitioning to the professional ranks himself, but rather than staying idle, he stepped back through the ropes to stay physically and mentally sharp for his pro debut later this year. Facing a Welsh Champion, Joe was fast off the mark, disrupting his opponent’s rhythm in the second round and maintaining the speed of the fight through the third. ⚡️

A huge thank you to Leelan, Declan, and Chris for their excellent corner work. Their knowledge and guidance throughout the night were second to none.

🏆 GOLD MEDAL GLORY FOR RUSLAN! 🥊🏅

This one’s all about GRIT and DETERMINATION! Our man Ruslan has brought home gold from the Welsh Novice Championships at Brecon Beacons Leisure Centre – and the journey to the top was as impressive as the fights themselves!

After battling tonsillitis in the week leading up to the event, he then faced a last-minute weight challenge on day one – with just 10 minutes to shift half a kilo! Head Coach Joe Evans stepped in with key weight loss tricks to get him over the line, and Ruslan dug deep to make the grade.

Once in the ring, he was unstoppable:
✅ First fight – annihilated his opponent every round with sharp body/head combinations and smart angle changes
✅ Final fight – sealed the gold with a third-round stoppage, showcasing incredible strength, skill and heart

To every single coach at Newtown ABC and on the day . . . Joe Evans, Declan for corner work and support from Obi Pierce on the day. Coach dedication, expertise, and endless support are the backbone of the club and the reason our boxers can achieve incredible things like this. Last night Elissia kick started the year 2026 with a bang. Waking up she was blissfully unaware that she would be competing that evening. At 9 years old she took an offer for a skills bout the same day without hesitation; travelling nearly 3hours south to Croeserw in Port Talbot on the Caerau home show. Elissia has shown the importance of staying fit all year round. She has shown Courage and determination to put her skills to the test. Big thanks to Very proud dad and coach Deklan Briscoe for all training and cornerwork. Sparring trips have paid off. And thanks to Joe in the corner on the night. What a performance!! You have done the club proud young lady ! Big things to come from this one 🙌🥊

Well done these Warriors over last few weeks. Ruben great performance in Aston and Jed brutal performances in box cup. Jed on the right win the 1st fight with a 2nd round stoppage and lost narrowly to a bristolian who’s already been ranked top 7 in Britain. The brothers showcased their skills and are looking to win medals not just this season but long into the future. Big things coming their way well done el chapos.
