Match Reports from the weekends action:
Caberfeidh 2 v Strathglass 4:
A tough afternoon at home for our 2nd team against a Strathglass 1st team squad full of experience and quality right across the park.
We unfortunately were missing several regulars, but the young squad once again stepped up and competed extremely well.
We started brightly and there were opportunities at both ends before Penri Jones produced a superb finish, rocketing one into the net despite the close attentions of his marker, Taylor Condon.
Unfortunately, Taylor was forced off shortly afterwards after dislocating his shoulder, requiring a trip to A&E. He did make it back to Castle Leod later in the afternoon, although clearly in a lot of pain, and it looks unfortunately like that could be his season over. A real blow, especially as he has been performing extremely well for both teams in recent weeks. We wish Taylor a speedy recovery.
The injury meant a reshuffle, with Fraser MacDonald dropping into full back and young Finlay MacLennan coming onto the field for another taste of senior shinty. Finlay was excellent and certainly didn’t look out of place.
The setback didn’t knock us off our stride and we got ourselves back on level terms when Finlay saw his shot take a wicked deflection off Strathglass full back Donald Fraser, wrong-footing the goalkeeper and finding the net. Looked like it was the only way we were going to beat a man who was in inspired form.
There were further chances for both sides before the break, but neither of us could add to the score and it was 1-1 at half time.
Unfortunately, we fell behind just two minutes into the second half when from a corner a shot on goal ricocheted off several Cabers defenders before eventually creeping in at the near post.
Strathglass then extended their advantage with two well-taken strikes in the 60th and 70th minutes.
We kept battling right to the end and were rewarded in the 80th minute when Ali Taylor pulled another one back to make it 4-2, but that was how the scoring finished.

Despite the result, there was plenty to be encouraged about. We competed throughout and more than matched a much more experienced Strathglass side for long periods.
At either end of the park, however, they had two players who made the difference. Adam Todd in the Strathglass goal produced save after save and was outstanding in keeping us at bay, while Penri Jones at the other end showed just how dangerous he is — give him the slightest sight of goal and he is lethal.
Perhaps the biggest positive for us was the contribution of the youngsters. Eight of our squad today were teenagers, with five of those aged just 15 or 16, and they once again showed that they are more than capable of stepping up and competing at senior level. 👏
A lot to take from the performance despite the result.
Next up is Kinlochshiel at home on the 26th.
Caberfeidh 5 v Kyles Athletic 1
Cabers 1st team moved onto 15 points from 16 games played in the Mowi Premiership after picking up 2 points at home to bottom of the table Kyles Athletic on Saturday with a comfortable 5-1 victory.
Cabers started well and Ali Taylor opened the scoring after 10 minutes with a well struck shot from 20 yards that arrowed into the bottom corner of the net.
Cabers pushed on and were at times guilty of overplaying in front of goal, but further goals were inevitable and Gavin MacLauchlan finished smartly after a rebound, before Ali Taylor doubled his tally for the day with a close range finish to send Cabers in at half time with a 3-0 lead.
The second half failed to ignite as a game until Kyles were awarded a penalty on the 60th minute, which was duly dispatched low and hard into the Cabers net to bring the game back to 3-1.
This sparked a necessary response from Cabers and Gavin MacLauchlan added two further goals from close range to complete his hat trick and conclude the scoring for the day. Connor MacGregor was nominated the Sponsors Player of the Match following a fine display on his return from suspension.
Cabers stay in 6th position level on points with Fort William and will return to action on the 26th October for their penultimate home fixture against Oban Camanachd.
