g overtime). Weekends can also be busy so may take a wee while to get back to you if you leave a message. The Association control fishing on the River Spey from the mouth of the River Tromie to the Spey Dam at Laggan. There is also fishing on the A86 side of Loch Laggan and part of Loch Ericht. Association waters are covered by a protection order issued under the freshwater and salmon fisheries Act. It is illegal to commence fishing without first obtaining a permit. Rules

THE FOLLOWING RULES MUST BE OBSERVED, ON PENALTY OF FORFEITING PERMIT:

1. Only one rod at a time allowed per pool
(river); rods to move on as pool is fished
down. No angler to use more than one rod at a
time.
3. Worming for salmon; single hook only, size
1/0 or above.
4. No live or dead bait, other than worms, to be
used.
5. No bank sticks or fixed rods.
6. No angler to
a) be accompanied by a dog
b) cause damage to woods or fencing
c) disturb game or stock
d) leave litter
e) light fire
7. The Salmon and Trout Return on your Permit

8. Bag limit of 4 fish per day. (River Spey or
Spey Dam) and 6 fish per day all other

9. No trout under 10ins. To be taken. (All

10. No tickets refunded. The Fishing Seasons are:

SALMON & SEA TROUT: March 15 - Sept 30
BROWN TROUT: March 15 - Sept 30
PIKE: All Year

N.B. SALMON & SEA TROUT FISHING IS ILLEGAL ON SUNDAYS. IT IS ALSO ILLEGAL TO SELL ROD CAUGHT SALMON. ANGLERS MUST CARRY PERMITS AT ALL TIMES AND SHOW SAME ON REQUEST TO ASSOCIATION WATER WARDEN AND COMMITTEE MEMBERS. BAGS MAY BE INSPECTED. RESTRICTIONS
RIVER SPEY:
Beat 1 (Dalchully) : Access via N. Bank only. Beat 14 (Ralia) : No Salmon Fishing allowed. From the beat end at Newtonmore shooting ground, westwards on the South bank to Laggan Bridge is not controlled by the Association and individual landlords must be approached for permission to fish. Beat 15 (Glentromie) : Access to the river limited to a 60ft wide passageway along the river bank, downstream from Kingussie. RIVER CALDER:
Brown trout only. Permit does not cover salmon or sea trout. RIVER TROMIE / RIVER TRUIM:
Local Season ticket holders only. Special permit must be obtained from the secretary, in advance. This water is FLY only and ALL fish must be returned. No night fishing. Fishing hours 9am to 6pm only. The B.A.A. Permit does not allow access to any tributary streams or feeder burns. No fishing above Spey Dam. Night fishing is restricted to Loch Laggan and Loch Ericht only. No night fishing on Rivers Spey, Calder, Tromie or Truim. To qualify for local season ticket : Anglers must have a permanent residence in the Badenoch District, have their name on the local voters roll or other written proof of residence in the area (holiday home, caravan site addresses are not acceptable). Visitor Adult/Senior - £72

BOATS - CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE due to Covid. The Club has two boats available on Spey Dam. These can be booked through the BAA website or contacting the secretary. Unfortunately there are no electric motors at present. Boat hire per session on:
Spey Dam Saturday - Sunday £11
Monday - Friday £6

There are two sessions : 8am to 5pm and 5pm to dusk. Fly only. Limit 4 fish per session. PIKE - Pike fishing is permitted on Association waters at any time of the year. Pike fisherman must be in possession of a valid permit and must not use pike tackle to catch trout, sea trout or salmon.
