🎾 Junior Yellow Ball Tournament at Newtonmore Tennis Club 🎾

We managed to beat the weather this morning and get all our matches played under dry skies! 🌤️

We had two events running — Under 18 and Under 14 — with four players in each. There were some great, closely-fought matches, as well as an invaluable first tournament experience for a few of our juniors. 👏

Join us at Newtonmore Tennis Club for an exciting Yellow Ball Tennis Tournament on Monday 17th August at 10am for players aged 11 to 18. Matches will be played on full-size courts using standard yellow tennis balls, providing a great opportunity to compete and develop match skills.

Players will take part in short singles matches with a focus on fair play, participation, and gaining competitive experience. Scores and rankings are not the main priority — the emphasis is on enjoying tennis and improving.

All equipment is provided, but players are welcome to bring their own rackets.

Players to register on the day at 9.50am - £5 Entry Fee payable by all players on registering.

☀️ Day 4 of our Accelerated Tennis Programme – and the sunshine finally arrived! 🎾😎

What a fantastic way to finish four brilliant mornings of tennis! The sun came out, the courts were buzzing, and everyone had a great time developing their skills through lots of fun games and activities.

Our Tots and Red Ball players enjoyed target-hitting challenges and our “Shut the Gate” game, while our Green and Yellow Ball players focused on improving their serves before putting their skills into practice in some competitive games. Well done to everyone for all your hard work and enthusiasm this week! 👏

🎾 Adult Tennis Coaching is Back at Newtonmore! 🎾

Looking to get active, learn a new skill or get back into tennis? We’d love to see you on court!

📅 Starting Tuesday 25th August (5-week block)

🟢 5.00–6.00pm – Rusty Rackets & Beginners
Perfect if you’re new to tennis or haven’t picked up a racket for years. A relaxed, friendly session where you’ll learn the basics, improve your confidence and have plenty of fun along the way.

🟡 6.00–7.00pm – Improvers & More Experienced Players
Designed for players who already have some experience and want to develop their technique, consistency and match play in a welcoming and supportive environment.

Everyone is welcome – come along, meet new people, keep active and enjoy a great hour on court!

🎾 Day 3 of our Summer Tennis Camp… the weather had other ideas! ☔🌧️

We managed to get our Tots and Red Ball sessions completed before the heavens opened, and our determined Green Ball boys weren’t going to let a bit of rain stop them! 💪 We squeezed in some great work on our volleys before the courts became too slippery for safe play.

Unfortunately, we had to cancel today’s Yellow Ball session, but safety always comes first.

The good news? ☀️ Tomorrow’s forecast is looking much brighter, and we’re excited to finish this mini block of lessons with plenty of fun games, challenges and some mini competitive events. We can’t wait!

🎾 Day 2 of our Junior Camp lessons complete… and we beat the weather! 🌦️💪

A huge well done to all of our Tots, Red Ball, Green Ball and Yellow Ball players this morning! We somehow managed to squeeze every lesson in between the showers, with plenty of smiles, great rallies, fun games and fantastic effort from everyone. 🎾😊

We even had a special guest appearance from Captain America disguised as Spider-Man! 🦸‍♂️😜

A massive thank you to all the players (and parents!) for being so flexible with the ever-changing weather. Scottish summer tennis at its finest! ☔➡️☀️

🤞 Now we’re keeping everything crossed that tomorrow’s forecast thunderstorms either stay away or fizzle out before they reach us. Here’s hoping for another great morning on court!

There’s still time to sign your kids up to our Accelerated Tennis Programme from 3rd to 6th August! Funded by the Summer of Sport initiative, these daily lessons for kids from 3 to 16 years are free for club members and heavily subsidised for non-members.
